The Wild Experience

Since we're tweaking albums, I though I'd tackle my personal fav, The Gold Experience. I've left out the NPG operator segues. Put'em in where ever u want, or just do what I do, and skip'em completely. I made a mix of this, and it sounds AWESOME!

1. Acknowledge Me (replacing P Control. I always thought Acknowledge Me was the better song)

2. Interactive

3. Endorphinmachine

4. Shhh

5. Days Of Wild (the studio version, replacing We March. Can anyone explain why this was left off the album?)

6. 2morrow (replacing Most Beautiful Girl. 2morrow fits the tone of the album better, in my opinion)

7. Dolphin

8. Now

9. 18 & Over (replacing 319. I always thought Now and this one would be killer 2gether.)

10. Shy

11. Ripopgodazippa (replacing Billy Jack Bitch. I always thought this song followed the story of Shy very well)
12. Lovesign (Shock G's remix. One of my favs, felt like it should be there.)

12. Eye Hate U

13. Gold

Hope u guys like it! Burn this onto disc, pop it on and bug the fuck OUT!!

Yeah, you've ditched most of the highlights there. And the studio version of Days of Wild is totally lame. It sounds unfinished and Prince sounds like he's asleep. Where is the lead keyboard part?

The only possible reasons I can come up with as 2 why the song Days Of Wild was left off the album are:

1- He felt that the studio version doesn't have as much impact as a live version of the song. And consequently a live version doesn't fit on the gold experience that well.

2- Perhaps Prince doesn't own the masters 2 The gold experience, as people seem 2 assume he does. And therefore he wanted 2 keep Days Of Wild totally 2 himself. Making sure that 4 instance no one could take the song and sample the beat or cover it or something like that.....???

BTW: Do U actually like the studio version??? I never liked it. It sounds so flat and lifeless. Even the CB version doesn't sound that great.

Best ever Days Of Wild is still the 13+ minute one from Glam Slam in 1995.

The Drums, Bass, Guitar, Vocal, it's all loud and in your face. But without blurring out one another. Sounds almost like a studiorecording. Wicked. Absolutely Wicked.

I put the studio version on because I couldn't make the mix with the live version, (The file was 2 big). That is also the same reason I left out 319, Billy Jack Bitch, and the original version of P Control, (although on the actual mix I made, I put the club remix of P Control as the opening track). 4 the couple of peeps that don't like what I've done with it, I wasn't trying 2 improve on TGE, it is after all my favorite album. Think of it as a new twist on an old favorite.

I don't think that I've ever heard this version. Is it in circulation online or on a bootleg?

Although it's possible Prince wanted to retain ownership of the masters to it (although my understanding is that he retained ownership of the TGE masters anyways--hence how he was able to release the P Control remix on CB), the reason that DOW studio was left off of TGE was apparently because WB objected to the lyrics. I've never quite understood exactly why the lyrics were considered that objectionable, but that's what the rumor was back in '95.
