ALBUMS THAT GET A LOT OF PRAISE AT THIS SITE BUT I CAN'T STAND EITHER ALBUM. ANYBODY ELSE OUT THERE WITH ME OR AM I THE ONLY ONE? JUST CURIOUS!

i used 2 hate lovesexy...when i first got it i would only listen 2 when 2 r n love and anna steisa..and sometimes i wish u heaven and alphabet st...but now i love it...i been listenin 2 it alot lately! this is one of those albums that just has 2 grow on ya

While it had the religious elements that im not a fan of, I got a lot out of Lovesexy...

The Rainbow Children is preachy bullshit, and was the precursor to the new toned down persona.

Im really thrilled for all of the recent exposure and praise, it is long overdue.
I think Musicology is fine, I loved the concert.

But Im hoping that the more rebellious side of Prince gets resurrected SOON.
(im not holding my breath, though).

ya know, if it wasn't for that freakin' narration, i'd probably listen to TRC a lot more than i do. i love the music on that album. i can look past the subject matter of the lyrics - whatever. but that fat albert darth vader sounding babble that ya can't even understand half the time just ruins it for me. as a rule, i really hate albums with "narrators" - the art of noise did an album like that a few years back, some concept album about claude debussy or some shit - great music, but an insufferable album to slog through.

Actually, this response doesn't surprise me. It takes a while to appreciate these albums, so if you're not in the mind set to give it time, you probably won't like them. Then again, maybe they're just not your kind of music. It happens. If these albums were to come out today I might not dig 'em myself.

However, you can't consider yourself a huge (a relative term) Prince fan on this site if you don't like atleast one of these albums. You're talking amongst people that like New Power Soul and think Around The World In a Day is a great album.
