Prince's first truly great ballad.

I'd go for How Come U Don't Call Me Anymore.

What says you? smile

FIRST, then yes I would agree...

I think Prince first great ballad was "Baby" from FOR YOU...it featured his beautiful falsetto..not to mention that the sing in itself is just pretty

How old is Donna? cool

But his truly first great one...do me baby...all the stops were pulled out on that one. It's not my favorite but it's a great track and sorta defines the rest of the ballads that were to come..IMO.

I would have 2 say "Still Waiting". It is truly different from anything he has written (at lease ballad wise). It is very reminiscent of a country ballad.

"Baby" - truly adore this song!

"I hope our baby has eye's just like yours"! Gives me goosebumps, always everytime!
In the distance a light shines and I know it is mine. Someday I will touch it because it calls me. It says cross the line, cross the line. I know everything is not always what it seems, so I pinch myself daily just in case it's a dream

"When We're Dancing Close and Slow"

I love it when he says, "I can almost taste the thoughts within your mind".

'Leaving For New York', most definitely.

The princely iconography was already beginning to take shape in the lyric to this early ballad.

The song includes references to both the colour "purple" and "the dawn", two of Prince's favourite recurring themes throughout his career.

.
"You don't frighten us, English pig dogs. Go and boil your bottoms, sons of a silly person."
