"In All My Dreams"

Just listening to this on my Charade LP biggrin Mad track! You'd think this would at least be worthy of a B-side. I love the retro sound of the thing, but the first time I listened I thought it ran a bit overlong with that slowed-down midsection ("Welcome... This is where I dream my dreams..."). Then I realised what he was saying before it - "Play my record double speed, feel the climax good 4 us/Just fun, nothing etherial" - then Wendy and Lisa come in - "Hear ye, hear ye, one and all/The double speed warehouse is making a call". After that, speed up your turntable to 45. It sounds really cool, the voice sounds almost normal. Perhaps this is how the song is supposed to be played - 33 for the beginning and the end, 45 for the mid-section? What a cool idea! Does double-speed mean 45? Surely not 66 2/3 RPM...

One of his best ever - released or unreleased.

Originally intended for Parade, then for Dream Factory, so I say he must have been pleased with it - probably just didn't fit with where he was since then. Although he obviously remembers it fondly since it was sampled in 1993's Acknowledge Me.

Oh, and it's just "All My Dreams" smile

I remember first hearing this on vinyl bootleg in 1989, and then realizing the message to play it faster... so very surreal.

One of his greatest recordings from one of his most creative periods. I can't think of a bad outtake from the Parade/Dream Factory eras.
if you've gotta pay for things that you've done wrong I've gotta big bill coming at the end of the day- Gil Scott Heron
