The Cosby Show

Any ya'll recall when Vanessa (Tempest Bledsoe's character) was rocking Prince's coat from the Sign O' the Times era? How the HELL did that come about? I can't even fathom the Cos approving of that kind of connection between his wholesome, Black bourgeoisie show and nasty lil' Prince. Also, remember when the two kids (don't know their names) from 227 went to see a Lovesexy concert?

What can I say? I'm a 80's baby in love with TV. wink

even funnier then that is when on Family Ties, the daughter, Mallory is over heard suggesting singing as a lullaby to her baby brother...let's go crazy!

Even funnier was an episode of "Gimme A Break!" when Katie was telling Nell about a new album she bought and it was Stevie Wonder's Hotter Than July! falloff

Oh, this has nothing to do with Prince. Sorry. giggle

Bill Cosby got the coat from Prince to give to tempest as a birthday gift.
I remember reading that in Right on or either Black beat magazine back in the day. To say the least I was very jealous!

My roommate in college was Temptest's cousin and when she came into town I had a chance to meet her.My first question was about the coat and how she came about getting it.

SHE said that she met Prince and he gave it to her because he was a fan of the show. She said she wore that coat for 2 or 3 years afterwards.

It was Willis and Arnold. Arnold like this girl but she was using him to get to his brother Willis. The girl brought Willis some candy and a disco record. The song was "I Wanna Be Your Lover". Willis and the girl danced together and Arnold got jealous and did a real silly dance.

I bet no one remembers this one from "As The World Turns". Lilly and Dusty were dancing to "Let's Go Crazy" with the music blasting and Lilly's stuck up rich mother, Lucinda, comes home and screams "What is that INSANE music!"

prince has always been acceptable in many african-american households. back in the 80s he was considered on the edge. prince has always touched all genres on his albums. having a prince song or a prince reference back then on a tv show gave the show a little more street cred. jedi

and the song which plays during the strip club scene in Beverly Hills Cop is "Nasty Girl", by Prince/Vanity 6, and was recommended by the real-life stripper who was hired for the scene.

Yes, since "The Morning Papers" came out around, um,... say, '92, I'd have to say this wasn't the song on the show. I couldn't tell you at this time what it was, but TMP...no.
