How in the Hell did Rolling Stone miss Prince in their "Moments" issue? I don't know how old this issue is but I was browsing through it in the barbershop and they totally missed Prince!!! They had both Madonna and MJ, how could they forget about one of the hugest pop stars out there? Especially when you consider that he was just as huge as either Madonna or MJ.
I hate that people disrespect Prince this way. Eminem made it into that issue, but not Prince? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Prince always seems to be underappreciated or unrecognized in these lists
For instance, how can Eminem be the most influential person in the music business, when Prince is down in 49th It's more of a popularity contest than anything else

Forget Rolling Stone. At one time they used to know what talent was, now they wouldn't know talent if it bit them on their ass.

What one moment in Prince's career do you think should have been included? For the most part I agree with the list. If you think about it objectively didn't most of the important moments happen before Prince's career began? Some of the more recent moments are questionable but I don't think any one moment of Prince's career was unfairly overlooked.

I hate the Rollingstone mag. I'm not even going to get into it but... can you spell r a c i s t ? how in the hell you gonna put the runner-up Clay Aiken on the cover before the actual winner????? They got so much flack for that, they had to put Ruben on just to pacify the situation. I hate'em

and there it is. years ago, that magazine was class...now it's totally a shell of its former self. may as well turn it into a full-blown teenybopper magazine and put it amongst crap like tiger beat or whatever else on the bookstore shelves.

That's very true - in RS's defense, apparently the magazine was bleeding red ink in a very serious manner in the nineties. In order to rev up advertising revenues, the magazine shifted to the US/people market (with a touch of Maxim for the laddish constituency). To their credit, RS still does cover politics (I don't think much of its coverage, but it is there) and they do review Yo La Tengo and Tortoise next to Christina and Britney.
