Wha... eek

the reason that it's cool is cuz it's from the old scholl and they know it.

are there any bad songs on that album? Not that they are bad, but I skip 1999 and LRC..just heard them too much.

LRC is probably my least favourite on the album. Critics is one of my favourites (if not my favourite) and high on my fav prince song list.

Damn, nobody knock critics!

It is a great track and almost anticipates techno/house music (or otherwise co-opts its early forms).

Well, 2 each's own. All the critics is a cold ass song. Meaning that it's great. I've said countless times that 1999 album is P's best. The WHOLE album. It's a masterpeace. Way ahead of it's time.

Yes. It's very artistic.

Both an unabashed lashing towards pop culture, and at the same time, a meticulously thought out metaphor for the famale anatomy.

The Critics really symbolize vaginas, and the New York denotes something that is really huge.
So the song really means, All the vaginas love U if you're hung.

I'm sure ya'll will agree. Go listen to it again.

depends on if I am in the mood for delerious or not...but usually that gets skipped too. It's like after that the album takes off.

This song is the best...

"It don't matter if u're naive -- if you say what u believe... in New York..."

I imagine Prince and Dez having a snowball fight in Greenwich...

And the guitar solo... so cold, so distant... blows me away...

"Body don't wanna quit, gotta get another hit..."

Cool song.

AsianBomb777, I've read many of your replies to interpretations of Prince's songs, are you saying that everything that he wrote and all of his songs (and movies) center around vaginas?

This may be a whole new way of looking at things!

I TOTALLY AGREE 100%!!!!! My favorite Prince songs are "Head" and "Let's Work", but my favorite album as a WHOLE is "1999". It is a complete masterpiece from the first note "Don't Worry" to the last "Prince International" The album is absolutely perfect, from the futuristic sound to the sequence of the songs and the mixture of musical styles. I can listen to the whole album straight through, throw on the B sides from that album, and follow it with the 12 Inch of "Little Red Corvette" and never get bored. I only wish there were more 12 inches from that album.

Prince was at "His Royal Baddness" best with that album and I CRAVE the follow up to that album. He was VERY much ahead of his time with that album and when the actual year 1999 rolled around, it was a BIG disappointment. Growing up, I had envisioned the radio sounding like that album in the year 1999.....boy was I WRONG!!!!

Nothing wrong with being obsessed with vaginas. Here's a point to ponder: a baby boy spends 9 months trying to get out and the rest of his life trying to get back in. Can ya dig it?
