I'd be surprised if Q weren't talking out of their collective anuses.

It might have been mentioned in passing or rumoured amongst P's staff (or fans), but for them to put this in print is sloppy journalism in my view.

Nobody hold their breath!

9. True! Q: Prince would visit Miles Davis at home and Davis would answer the door stark naked. "All of human history was on that body", says Prince. "See that and you wouldn't want to eat for a week."

Finally, what Q has to say about the 5 'essential' Prince albums:

PARADE - 4/5
Ostensibly the soundtrack to Prince's cinematic folly Under The Cherry Moon, a sparkling experiment encompassing falsetto electro-pop (Kiss) and the impassioned Sometimes It Snows In April.

"Ostensibly" the soundtrack to UTCM? confuse

Wasn't there an article recently quoting prince saying he'd like to do a full acoustic tour sometime?

Maybe he's going to release the album and tour it.

Dirty Mind - happy Dansa? biggrin

no, i'm not. that album and 1999 BOTH should've gotten 5 stars instead of a piddly 4.

Q magazine has given Dirty Mind a 5 star rating in the past , around 1989 when they did
an article on Prince . Their ratings for his albums arent ever consistent for some reason.

2. Apparently Prince does take himself seriously. Acc to Q: "I do take myself seriously. I consider 'taking myself too seriously' to be a compliment".

I don't think he takes himself too seriously. . . I was at the concert after the induction to the R&R HOF. .he gave a shout out to his boy Dave Chapell. This was shortly after his Basketball & Pancakes" skit. Everyone in the crowd who saw it went NUTS!! He was asked in an interview if that story was true and if he thought it was funny. He said he thought it was hilarious (and not the fake kind of agreement either) and that it did happen (kinda). I beleive he said something like "It's not that we were good. . .but they were that BAD!!"

Sure, sometimes people can take themselves too seriously, but doesn't everybody.
Personally I think he has a great sense of humor. . . and a LOVELY smile lips

ThunderCer

How about a "double" acoustic album?
One guitar
One piano
Now that's a wonderful idea.

My thoughts exactly!..... I want an "ASS-KICKIN-GUITAR DRIVEN-ROCKED OUT- FUNKED UP- COMA INDUCING" guitar record. A touch of Endorphinemachine, Peach, Let's Go Crazy, and other's that slip my mind at the moment. The recent George Harrison tribute and with the recent download.... I am ready for Prince to reclaim his throne as a guitar GAWD!

ESPECIALLY 12 STRING....

I tell ya the 12 string really has a beautiful way of waking up your senses... becuz it activates octaves that are higher than the original notes. TRULY BEAUTIFUL.

SO if this is the case of an acoustic CD... I hope he throws in a 12 string for GOOD MEASURE and RAW HARMONIES.

and looks at 10 Prince 'myths' -

1. Did Prince ever play ping pong with Michael Jackson?
2. Does Prince take himself too seriously?
3. Does Prince like pets?
4. Did Prince once play a gig for Prince Albert of Monaco?
5. Did Prince meet Mani via the Internet?
6. Is Prince any good at bowling?
7. What was Prince's first band called?
8. Did he change his name to 'Victor'?
9. Did Prince see Miles Davis naked? (TRUE, apparently!)
10. Is Prince telepathic?

the crucial questions for me:
will he release something from the vault ( let's say Roadhouse Garden) soon?
will he release Wonderful Ass unedited?
does he plan to work with Wendy & Lisa again?
what about the re release of the Paisley Park catalogue? (Madhouse, Family..)

I will never understand how anyone can rate "Dirty Mind" higher than "CONTROVERSY".

Every album from "For You" - "Purple Rain" is a progression, "PRINCE" was better than "FOR YOU", "DIRTY MIND" was an improvement on "PRINCE", but 4 my money "CONTROVERSY" kicked the pants off "DIRTY MIND", just as "1999" blew "CONTROVERSY" outta the water.

AND I have yet 2 meet anyone who likes "Around The World" more than "Purple Rain".

Please tell me that the quote about his response to Wendy's request for a reunion show is false. How can someone be so bigotted and release a song called the United States of Divisions when his response clearly illustrates that he is part of the problem?

What did he say? I must have missed it.

I'm never surprised anymore when Prince is hypocritical...it seems to be the only consistent character trait he has. wink

Who are we to judge? shrug

Maybe it was satire based on postings by the orgers included on the thanks-list? Maybe it was the truth? Maybe it was indeed a lie? It will all come out with the wash in time. biggrin

As the collection Anji wrote about sounded like quite the turn-off to me, as I would have preferred a collection of those self-same songs but in their original recordings, I don't particularly care. shrug

But until he is indeed proven a liar, I assume he told the truth as he knew it. Call me naive, but... That's me. biggrin

You people are weird.

Bon Jovi released the exact same thing this year and it wasn't very good.

Bon Jovi didn't do an acoustic album. They took old hits and re-arranged them
in a very lame way. Every song became a ballad, but they weren't acoustic.
Any songs that had any life to begin with, were just killed.

And yes...I think Prince can make acoustic version of hits sound cool. Lots
of bands and artists have done MTV unplugged or similar sessions with great success.
If it breaks when it bends, you better not put it in.
