"Crossroads" the new "Purple Rain"? Weekender entertainment section of the
San Antonio Express Newspaper (Feb 15, 2002) A review of Britney Spears movie "Crossroads" by Robert K. Elder. (He is a Chicago Tribune critic) Britney Spears' big-screen debut might become the "Purple Rain" of it's age: a rickety vanity project. Like Prince, Spears affords herself plenty of chances to flash her assets----her vocal talents, slim midriff and, well, assets. This isn't great filmmaking, but Spears isn't bad, even if the film is little more than advertisement for her music. | |
