rhastus69's review of The Time in Concert Went and saw the Time at the Grand casino in Gulfport, Mississippi on August 12, 2001. As usual Morris and the fellas put on a killer show.
It Took us about 2 hours to get from our house in Florida to Gulfport and it rained half the way there. Not good news considering this was to be an outdoor show. This show was originally scheduled for June 8, 2001 with the Gap band, but had been rained out. The Time went ahead and played in the club in the casino that day for FREE (but thats another story). After wandering around the casino for about an hour we took our seats, 20 rows back dead center. Not bad, but most of the other shows I've seen them, I'm usually leaning against the stage in front of Tori. That and they were playing with another name group so I knew they wouldn't be doing the 90 minute setlist. Expectations were low, but by now I should learn to NEVER doubt the Time 8 pm rolls around and the concert promptly starts. Well thats a first. I've NEVER seen The Time start on Time LOL. Well they started with a DAT intro with samples of their most famous songs, that was defenitly new, everybody comes out, Tori is just a wailing playing some wild ass shit I've never heard definetly not the normal intro, finally Morris and Jerome come out, the band just keeps ripping and I don't know what the fuck they are playing. They finally end the sweet torture by launching into the most kick ass version of Wild and Loose I've ever heard. Jerome even came out with the Mirror which I haven't seen them do in at LEAST 3 years. here's the complete setlist 1. Wild and Loose 2. The Stick 3. FishNet 4. The Oak Tree- definetly the longest version I've seen the Time do of this song live, they usually just do a quick run through of this one 5. Jerk Out-another one they played longer than usual, lately they just do the chorus and then launch into Cool or something else, nice to hear them play these completly 6. Get it up 7. Cool 8. 777-9311 9. The Bird Encore 10. Jungle Love The show was only 45 minutes, but it was non stop with only a few instrumental breaks for Morris to catch his breath. Morris and jerome had a bigger stage than usual to work with and the dancing was non stop. It never ceases to amaze me what a great show these guys put on. FANTASTIC. Can't wait for show #14. | |
