At first, I was thinking that it was nice just for Prince to get nominated. But, with this competition, Prince could actually win! Wouldn't that be something.

Where my naysayers at???

Temptation

Tracks 1 and 4 are my favorites 'cause they be funkeee. Sorry haters, but this album is great, and it gets better every time I listen to it. Prince should win this category hands down...but the fools will probably give it to George Winston, even though he was playing someone else's music. Lord, please don't let Kenny G win it. That would be a slap.

Now the question is, does Prince even care? Or is he just going to chalk it up to the Digital Garden and blow off the awards? He better recognize, 'cause 2004 has the potential to be Prince's greatest victory lap EVER. Grammy Awards in February, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March, Hendrix Tribute CD in May, Purple Rain Anniversary Tour during the summer...

Everyone is lining up to bow down. If Prince doesn't make 2004 his biggest, most successful year in the public eye, he will only have himself to blame.

no doubt. and the grammies don't really like him for some reason.

I mean, didn't Alicia Keys win more Grammies for her one mediocre pop album than Prince has won in his entire career?

sad.

Well isn't that indicative of how unimportant the Grammys are? The ratings for these shows are at all time lows. Gone are the days when artists would kick over their mike stand in the middle of a wicked guitar solo because they were so into it... or run through the crowd with a necklace on etc:)

I hope Prince wins just so it gets him some recognition... also, I think NEWS is awsome. Another fearless release.

WORD!!! Finally I find someone who finds this track as funky as I. I can't begin to tell you how many times I have played this track. But what is really cool is when I play it for people who don't know that it is Prince they go crazy cause it is sooo funky then I tell them it is Prince and they have a genuine look of joy on their face like "Damn he still has it!"
Peace

I'm happy that NEWS got nominated -- I personally enjoy XPectation a little more as an instrumental album, but I suppose since it was a members-only release, it's not even eligible for nomination.

Oh yeah my friend and have you heard the latest news? For some unknown reason the Oscars has decided to move to February instead of March making the Grammy's seem even more insignificant. Still I have always respected the Grammy's and I think most artist do because they aren't as music ignorant as BilBoard, and the AMA's which are completely sales, sales, sales.

The best part will be when the audience members start scratching their heads cuz they never heard of that piece of shit record.

I don't think Prince will show. He "don't care to win awards". But maybe he'll show up in case he wins and gets the chance to make a speech and act afool!

This category is not part of the televised grammy's so it really won't matter if he shows up unless you have a ticket.

eye really hope Prince wins, eye want him to be recgonized by the old and the new once again. He is a musical genuis and deserves this, even though he probably won't care. 4 2004 eye would also like it (being such a big year 4 him) if he could release a album that battles against Purple Rain and makes him the greatest artist of all time! Hopefully dreams come true. music

I don`t like the N.E.W.S. album; however I am glad that he did get a Grammy nomination. If he wins then maybe it will make people say "Is that the same Prince that was in that Purple Rain movie? What is he doing an Instrumental album for? Maybe I should expand my horizons and check it out." However since the public is pretty much mindless and easily led then they will probably pick up a copy of Brittney Spears Totally Topless XXX-Mas album.
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

I'm not a huge fan of News still but if its better than the other nominated albums then he definitely deserves another grammy , besides he shouldve been nominated for this category in the 1980s with his Madhouse work (which I enjoy much more than News or Xpectations actually)

How do you know it's not a televised category? Usually they pick one award from various categories to televise, and give the rest out beforehand. It probably isn't going to be televised, but do you know for SURE?

The Grammies do have a pretty bad history with respect to being "hip" to what's current but they HAVE respected Prince as far as nominations go. He hasn't won as many as he deserves, however.

The best publicity for him (not that he cares about it) would be if it were televised and he won, and people would say, "Hmmm... I guess he IS still out there making music." (that is, most of the public who thinks his last CD was Sign O'The Times).

Another Grammy problem is that they pick certain artists and favor them like crazy over the years. Sheryl Crow is one - and I love Sheryl Crow, don't get me wrong - but at this point she could fart and win a Grammy for it.
