I was told the following over the weekend from a friend close at Rhino Records...WB's reissue arm. Prince's contract states that WB must wait a minimum of 3 months on either side of a release date, if Prince himself is releasing a record of ANY SORT. This is why you won't see an official WB release any time soon. Once Prince got word of the "greatest hits" rerelease he put out "Rave Into" which will be followed by his own "greatest hits" of rerecorded songs. Per his contract, Prince also has to authorize any remastering of the catalog, which is why you haven't seen any re-releases of the catalog....wait for the expected NPG Masters soon. WB has everything ready to go, and is only stalled by the artist's wishes himself...
