Prince and films are a rum mix. Purple Rain's a gas, Batman is fun, but Graffiti Bridge and Under The Cherry Moon make The Postman look like landmark cinema. Still, the latter had a cracking soundtrack, appearing in the middle of the Purple One's purplest patch. Poppy but not lightweight, and flitting between genres with arrogant ease from the anthemic pop of Christopher Tracy's Parade to the R&B swagger of Kiss to the sweet ballad Sometimes It Snows In April. And what a great band The Revolution were.
