Tonight Show Report

[We don't usually post "reviews" of TV appearances, but I know so many people in Europe weren't able to see it, I thought I'd let this one slide. -Ben]

Prince's Tonight Show performance #2 was tight!!
I must admit that I was sort of disappointed with the first night, but most of my complaint was that Jay did not give him enough time to perform 'The Work' correctly. The interview was great, but I think he could have done a better job explaining the record industry. I understood what he said, but the average Joe that was watching was like "what is he talking about?"

As far as the second night, The Ballad of Dorothy Parker was an excellent choice. The band is tight as a drum,(no pun intended) and he even got off on the piano like every other person on here demanded. The set was the same as the first night, only without Millenia, Prince's fuzzy piano at the front, and Kirky J (I think that was him) on the bongos. Blackwell got off on the stick flipping trick as well. Geneva was dressed as a waitress, and the man had on a black suit, red tie, and a black fedora. He looked good, and less tired than last night. Mike and the bass player were sitting down w/ Najee and he played the flute as well as his sax. The arrangement for the song was very similar to the one on the first leg of the HandR tour,(saw him in St. Louis) but was longer with a nice piano solo by the man, and a short drum solo with the stick trick. All in all an excellent show. Prince if you see this, stay out on tour, release that album and swing back thru the STL and I promise to bring someone new like you asked!!! I'm willing to do the work!! Peace yall and be wylde!!!!!
