4th report from Denver Hit n Run

I know it's a little late, but I've been recuperating from one of the best Prince concerts I've ever seen.

This was my second Hit n'Run show, following Vegas in December. A couple months of fine tuning made this Denver date awesome. As others have said before, "U Make My Sunshine" and "The Work" live absolutely blow away the recorded versions. The rest of the set list -- Uptown, Controversy, Mutiny, ICNTTPOYM, Dorothy Parker, The Purple Rain songs, etc. -- echoed the previous shows, but were totally dialed in -- PHENOMENAL WORK from the NPG.

I also have to echo the other testaments that Prince was friendlier and more open to a Denver crowd than I've ever seen before -- it was also the smallest venue he's played here since the Triple Threat tour came through in '82 and '83, I believe. The addition of "Millenia" and "Funky Baldheads" was reminiscent of the Triple Threat days -- although there was no worry that either act could show up Prince!!! But the openers were MUCH MUCH better than I ever hoped for -- Millenia moreso as back-up singers for Prince than as a stand alone act, but they can definitely sing. The highlight of FBH, for me, was their instrumental version of "I'm Yours" from the "For You" album -- I've always loved Prince's guitar work on that tune -- his first rock guitar song, I say -- and they definitely did it justice. Three axes grinding in unison, just like Prince, Brown Mark and Dez.... Then FBH did a credible cover of "Anotherloverholenyohead"... Not BAD!!! They've come a LONG LONG LONNNNNG way from the Celebration.

An aftershow would have been gravy, but I can't complain after the Experience I had. It was absolutely incredible -- definitely of the caliber of Lovesexy. While I miss the Prince who could say FUCK! DAMN! and SHIT!, and I really wish He wouldn't invite me to Bible study, I joined His adventure much too long ago to give up now. I'll just agree to disagree and keep on loving every note he plays!!!!!

Thank U, Prince for your gift, and THANK U ALL @ PRINCE.ORG 4 KEEPING THE FAMILY TOGETHER.... I hope U all have an equally exceptional experience as The NPG storms through your town!!!

Love life, love God, Lovesexy
