Prince kicks back and relaxes up a storm at KC clubs (04/24/01 )

The former Artist Formerly Known as Prince -- that would be Prince -- put in post-concert schmoozes at the Empire Room and The Monaco after Sunday's concert at Municipal Auditorium.



"He actually hung out," says promoter Jeff Fortier. "It was kind of scary."



But not terribly, says Empire/Monaco owner Chris Seferyn.



"It was a regular Prince deal," Seferyn says nonchalantly. "He didn't get there until about 1 a.m."



How wild was it?



"Wild?" Seferyn pans. "Prince is not a wild guy. He's a very mellow, relaxed guy. I talked to him. He's pretty cool."



His Highness' activities of choice at the movie-oriented nightclub?



"They watched videotape of the concert here on our screen. That was cool. I guess they video all their shows."



Prince's wife, Mayte, was on hand, Seferyn says. "Maybe. I'm not 100 percent sure it was her, but it looked like her."



As for the groupie action, "This isn't that much of a rock 'n' roll town," Seferyn says. "People stand out front for a while and if they can't get in, they go home. That's how people in Kansas City do it."
