Prince reigns supreme
October 24, 2003

PRINCE has truly won Melbourne over with his incredible live shows and the way he's treated his fans.
The Purple One played for 1000 fans at the Metro nightclub after Wednesday's final Rod Laver Arena show.

Rumours had circulated all week that the singer would attend the Metro's official after-party.

And the chances were pretty likely given the singer turned up to an after-show gathering at the Prince of Wales on Tuesday and Monday's "secret" gig at Bennett's Lane.

Prince hit the Metro stage at 2.30am, playing an hour-and-a-half set with his incredible band.

Venue manager Terry O'Malley said some fans had waited for more than four hours.

"It was really warm and intimate – the kind of thing he was seeking, the non-stadium vibe," he said.

Looking impeccable in a dark suit, Prince played a mix of old hits and new songs.

"It was a night for the dedicated," O'Malley said.

"People just embraced it and it was fantastic."

That's the amazing thing about it though. He just blew Melbourne away. I know of people who went just because he was an international act and now they are hooked! He's been critically acclaimed and the tour has been labelled the concert of the year. And rightly so. HE WENT OFF!! It's 2 days since that amazing 2nd gig and aftershow and I'm still excited about it.

The Melbourne aftershow was special but the Sydney afteshow last night at The Basement was the most magnificent performance I have ever seen.

The tore it up infront of about 300 people. I have never seen so many happy, blown away people in my entire life.

When the boot of this show comes out you MUST get it. It blows away the World Aftershow from NY featured on It Aint Over.

My review will be in the concert section of the forums shortly.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
