Another Secret Gig

Prince played another secret gig in Melbourne tonight; held after the second concert at Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena.

The gig, played to a approx 300 crowd at Melbournes popular nightclub The Metro went for about an hour and featured Prince himself and the band.

I got the phone call at about 11am wednesday morning. My drummer from my band was at the metro submitting promotional posters for our upcoming show at the metro. He told me he had some good news 4 me. He told me he had seen some guys setting up a big road gig on the main stage at the metro and when he asked who was playing they said that PRINCE was playing his official aftershow there. Man that was the best news i have heard EVER!!! I Had diamond seats at rod laver arena and the show was fantastic! I swear the damn hairs on the back of my neck stood up when i heard the start of Shhh. The best Live show Ive ever seen. U cannot compare any1 else 2 prince and the N.P.G. I knew the aftershow was gonna happen and i thought that if i knew about it, then there must b hundreds of others who know also. I Left the show just b4 Purple Rain just so i could be at the metro early. I was suprised 2 c that not many people were in line (maybe i could'a stayed 4 purple rain after all). I got in, paid my $70 and waited next 2 the stage 4 at least 2hours. Then it finally happened, He came out wearing a black getup and black shades, he looked much funkier than he did onstage. He played his first song and then went off. His security started flashing a flashlight 2 get the crowd 2 scream 4 him 2 come back out. after 2 minutes he came back and played some more. He played a fantastic version of peach that absoluteley had the crowd going off. the atmosphere was unbelievable. Then as quick as he came, he left. There were a few people saying "he didnt even say goodbye or goodnight" But who cares??? We had just seen the most talanted musician in the world EVER!! Now Ive seen Prince Live and up close I could die 2morrow and i wouldnt care. Long live PRINCE!!!

I know how you feel. The first time I saw Prince upclose was at the Cabaret Metro in Chicago, April 6, 1993 at 2:07 a.m. It was so much better than the front row seat because the stage at the Metro is three feet high and I was crushed against it. After the show ended at 4:20 a.m. I reached up and grabbed Prince's hand then let it go. I could have died after that and wouldn't have cared. It's a feeling, I think every one that's a Prince supporter should experience.

Holy shit, I was at that gig. My first aftershow. I was just listening yesterday to a boot of that show and thinking how ten years have passed so quickly...
