Superproducer Brian Grazer, whose credits include The Nutty Professor and Apollo 13, told Access Hollywood Monday that he has cast the controversial rap star in a new movie.



"It's a Purple Rain kind of movie," he told the syndicated show, referring to Prince's semiautobiographical 1984 film, which spawned a No. 1 soundtrack, four Top 10 singles, and won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. "It's a hip movie, loosely based on Eminem's life, growing up in Detroit, an edgy story of his life."



Grazer was unconcerned with the 28-year-old rapper's lack of experience on the big screen. "I think he'll be a really good actor," he said.



Eminem's camp couldn't confirm that the star had joined the project — though he has indeed talked to Grazer about the job
