It really just goes to show you how little some fans know Prince. There was NO fiasco, I know I was there. He was kidding with him and they BOTH were laughing. Prince also finished what he was saying with "thank you my brother". And there's no reunion without Bobby. He was the one the other member's called Daddy. He was Prince's best friend at the time and no one has ever played Prince's music better. And don't come back with some lame Purple Rain tour cymbal playing comment because if you do you should go watch the Parade tour and see how great Bobby really was. So take this fishslap and shhh

- Well, I wasnt there, but I heard it. I have the MP3 of that song, and even if Prince was nice to him as a person, it doesnt mean that his performance as a musician was good...he wasnt playing well, for sure. I heard him playing on the Parade tour on Ahdio4 and I didnt notice nothing great...I have nothing against him as a person, he must be a great guy, and a good friend of Prince, but musically, he and Kirk are far from Sheila, Blackwell and Bland.

Wow --- this is the first P related news in a long time to get me excited. I'm seriously thinking that with or without Prince, I'd book a flight from DC for this one. I figure if anyone else was organizing it, there would be 0% chance of Prince being there. And with Sheila organizing it. . . what, maybe 10%? But I think this sounds just awesome without him. How I'd LOVE to hear The Family tunes live! smile

Sounds like this trip might just be my early Christmas present to myself.

This will be very cool if it actually happens...

I live in LA and my house is open to any out-of-towners who may need a place to crash. I live alone in a small three bedroom house in Silverlake so, obviously, I can't have a lot of people but hey, first come first serve...

As a drummer I have mad respect for Bobby. You didn't here him playing nothing great, but it would be hard for him to bust out a triplet in the middle of Girls and Boys. Even
?uestlove who is a FUNKY ass drummer said Bobby was his favorite drummer.

I would rather see Sheila and the Revolution have FUN with some great Prince music and some of their own than I would have Prince come out and preach to us.

Isn't it a bit ironic that someone who quotes the lyrics from Everlating Now doesn't want Prince to preach - isn't the lyric you quoted and the song you use for your scren name Prince preaching?

And hasn't Prince always preached - Purple Rain, the Cross, 7, And God Created Woman, Temptation, the Same December, Into the Light, She Gave Her Angels, the Holy River, One of Us, etc.

And aren't songs like Walk, Don't Walk, Money Don't Matter, Sign O' the Times, etc. also really preaching?

Maybe today's Prince wouldn't perform Darling Nikki. But wouldn't you still love to see him do Lets Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Little Red Corvette, Delerious, Kiss, etc, with the Revolution one more time?

Actually it's not at all ironic. For one, if you read my quote it's not the same as the lyrics in Everlasting Now. And the list of songs you mentioned are beautiful spiritual songs which I've always loved from Prince. They don't shove any idea or agenda down your throat. Preaching is "don't celebrate birthday's" "if you cuss that says more about U than it does me" or "don't eat meat"or "OH! God does have a name ya'll." THAT to me is preaching. Singing about the beauty of God to me is not preaching. Telling me that one way is right and another is wrong is PREACHING. And anyway Everlasting Now is funky as dog doo and I'm not going to not like it because most of the lyrics are more about how he's living his life, not instructing me how to live mine.

A line I wish Prince still understood and lived by:

"Some people love to make time for Jesus, but got no time for the sinners that be."

highfive

I still say Prince has always preached.

That's only because you're right. smile

And I STILL say that Prince used to sing about his spirituality, no he sings about his RELIGION!

Sheila E deserves much praise for always being a musician first. I think it is great and all past band members should be allowed to play, however we all know some were better than others.

I personally prefer the revolution just because of the songs, but 86-89 was a very strong period.

I think its great and Prince should show up and play and do it 100% and then move on. No reunion tour. But at least put out a triple disc and dvd of the concert for charity.
I mean do rarities and crazy fun encores. Make it the new small club/the avenue disc.

He owes it to Sheila. It would shut us up for at least a few minutes until we beg for a new revolution album.

I prefer old Prince stuff to new, but I in no way expect him to go back, but it would be nice to get archive releases from those era's while he chooses to follow rather than lead.

Who's hot today...let's see black eyed peas, who I have liked for several albums. Prince will quote them in his next JAM>>>

Anyway thanks Sheila I am sure you will make several thousand fans very happy!!!

Dance On,

Andrew

Now, Prince is in a dilemna; if he refused to do this, then he will look like a doody face, but if he does do it, then he knows that the chops of the Revolution members will suck, and that would just create weak--watered down funk, at best. He would look bad, and the concert would suck. What's the point? He should just give money to the cause and leave it at that. Simple.
