Haven't we all learned by now? If it's cool, Prince aint doin it no more. I hate to be a party poop but you all know it's the truth.
He's too deep into the Jehova's witness thing right now and let's face it, looks like this time it's not a phase.
Besides would you really want to see a Revolution reunion with Prince doing half assed versions of those classic songs?

I would rather see Sheila and the Revolution have FUN with some great Prince music and some of their own than I would have Prince come out and preach to us.

It sounds kind of fun and it's for a good cause, but it sounds like many of Prince's former band members are missing, unless they just didn't mention them. Where's everybody from the SOTT band (minus Sheila and Boni of course) and his recent bands? I doubt I'd go if I lived there, but it sounds like it may be interesting.

The question is whether or not Prince can let his ego down enough to let someone else take the lead in creating a tribute for him.

If this event was properly promoted, it could be huge.

Okay, now this is the concert I've been waiting to see. Prince together again with ALL the Revolution. And for a worthy cause, even.

Wow! I need to find myself in the ticket aisle, waiting all night for these tickets!

By the way, Mr. Prince, if you're reading this, I do think it would be absolutely magnificient for you to show up to this event and jam with America's favorite band. What a chance!

it ain't a tribute to Prince, it's a ploy to get ppl to give money to the charity which is great. if he agrees to play, which won't be until the last minute, i'll be very surprised.
but what i wanna know is, what about the Time and any other protegees? Ingrid Chavez, any old NPG band members...oh shit...what about Mavis and George?
why do i live in London?

Prince won't show.

Can you imagine how down on his new music critics / the general public would be after seeing him perform with The Revolution / ex band members, playing some of the greatest music he recorded...

then at the end of the night he shout's into mic, "NPGMC - Free The Music..." and on the video screen the 'Join Now' promo plays. It's too embarrasing to even think about.

i frankly don't need him to be there for it to be the concert of the year. IMO

Isn't it a bit ironic that someone who quotes the lyrics from Everlating Now doesn't want Prince to preach - isn't the lyric you quoted and the song you use for your scren name Prince preaching?

And hasn't Prince always preached - Purple Rain, the Cross, 7, And God Created Woman, Temptation, the Same December, Into the Light, She Gave Her Angels, the Holy River, One of Us, etc.

And aren't songs like Walk, Don't Walk, Money Don't Matter, Sign O' the Times, etc. also really preaching?

Maybe today's Prince wouldn't perform Darling Nikki. But wouldn't you still love to see him do Lets Go Crazy, When Doves Cry, Purple Rain, Little Red Corvette, Delerious, Kiss, etc, with the Revolution one more time?

Props 2 Sheila E!

If Sheila wanted 2 make more money 4 this charity, the concert has 2 be filmed, the proceeds of which will be given 2 the charity.

If P doesn't show up, what the hell are they going 2 play? Who's going 2 sing?

Maybe that's why Lisa & Wendy are doing it (maybe they know Prince ain't coming?)

Maybe this Revolution reunion will be filmed as the extra for Purple Rain DVD???

...and how long before someone 4wards this info to MTV news.com???

Great idea, but...

WHY is Prince himself not mentioned to be there?

Before you know the show will be prohibited because he didn't authorise it.

I don't think Prince has to authorize the show as live performances of a copywrighted song is not illegal, just the recording of it without permission (I think).

But, if Price doesn't show up, who will handle the vocals on the Revolution songs??

Who would you like to hear/see?

PRAYERS DO COME TRUE!!

If this is accurate and actually does pan out, this will be the most amazing development to come from the Paisley camp since Purple Rain! I'd go so far as to say this would make contemporary music history!

My guess is Prince will show up and take part -- if only as an encore performer: His ego is (or at least has been) MUCH too large to ignore such a point of praise, and he'd never allow his legacy to bolster the visibility of those other musicians more than his own. He may offer somewhat sanitized versions of the classics, but I think we'll end up well served.

I'd actually plan a trip to L.A. for this one.

Actually it's not at all ironic. For one, if you read my quote it's not the same as the lyrics in Everlasting Now. And the list of songs you mentioned are beautiful spiritual songs which I've always loved from Prince. They don't shove any idea or agenda down your throat. Preaching is "don't celebrate birthday's" "if you cuss that says more about U than it does me" or "don't eat meat"or "OH! God does have a name ya'll." THAT to me is preaching. Singing about the beauty of God to me is not preaching. Telling me that one way is right and another is wrong is PREACHING. And anyway Everlasting Now is funky as dog doo and I'm not going to not like it because most of the lyrics are more about how he's living his life, not instructing me how to live mine.

A line I wish Prince still understood and lived by:

"Some people love to make time for Jesus, but got no time for the sinners that be."

Not to be rude but I think Sheila or Wendy taking the vocals would be much better than someone taking Prince's place which is not possible. And it would actually be embarrassing to watch someone else try to do his songs like him, The Girls will do the songs justice.

I hope they make a DVD ROM of the concert that is interactive. with links to web sites, and interactive menus that allow the user to manipulate the songs and create mixes.

I am a huge Prince fan and I would like to see this show happen. But you do have to consider something. Either they are expecting Prince to perform or they are planning other artists to join in. Why I am saying this? If Prince doesnt show up, would the general public would buy tickets to see his ex-bandmates perform in concert? Yes they are talented but nobody knows about them or cares to see them perform in a concert setting. the universal amitheater holds 6000+ and the forum holds 16,000+ we have a lot of npgmusicclub members here in LA but not enough to even fill half of these two venues mentioned, so how they are going to fill these venues if Prince or some other big acts join in?

Also keep in mind this is a concert benifit which means they will probably charge a lot of $$$ to attend this show.

just my opinion,
