Prince references in USA Today article on Napster Update: Bart Van Hemelen (tenthousand@yahoo.com) provides an updated URL:
http://www.usatoday.com/l...kev000.htm Relevant snippets: Who's going to come up with the Sgt. Pepper of Napster? Probably nobody who's active today. Rob Glaser, CEO of Real Networks, has been going around talking with artists, including Prince or whatever his name is now, Carole King and U2, about how they view the delivery of music on the Net. The artists talk about being able to pump out lots of live recordings, Glaser told me. They talk of "taking the club-mix idea to new heights with alternate versions not just of songs but of entire albums," Glaser says. But Glaser doesn't report hearing any truly visionary ideas. [...] So you think Prince, U2, Chuck D, Ricky Martin, No Doubt, Weird Al Yankovic or anybody else is going to know, at this early stage, where Napster will take music? Not likely. | |
