First Memphis concert report

Memphis concert review..... I'm a huge Prince fan, have been since I was about 12, I'm 29 now. Anyway, the first time that I saw Prince was 3 years ago on the Emancipation tour. I was blown away by that show and I was looking forward to seeing Prince actually singing his HITS. The night started good, the show was scheduled to start at 8:00, but I was ready for the wait after reading posts on this web site. Prince finally took the stage at about 9:00, and the crowd was pumped. The stage show was fairly stripped down, but with the king on stage, none of that matters. The show was very streamlined, lots of quick songs, very few of them were full length. But it was great to here songs like Controversy and The Beautiful Ones, even if they were a little too short. Prince was in rare form, he looked like he was having a great time on stage. That energy was clearly passed on to the crowd, the only time anyone really sat down was during the overblown solos (Way too much time was spent on the saxophone player). But the bottom line is, Prince can get away with things like that, people will always accept what he does, because he is a master onstage. He has an aura about him that commands attention, and he had Memphis in the palm of his hands on this night. One particularly memorable moment, Prince said, "No matter who you voted for in the election, Democrat or Republican, there is only one true leader, the man up above, Jesus Christ, He'll never steer you wrong." It's nice to know that in this day of bad role models, that Prince is the real deal. My hat goes off to him for using his celebrity status to get a REAL, POSITIVE message out to the people. This show is the bomb, and if you get a chance to shell out the bucks to see this man, DON'T EVEN GIVE IT A SECOND THOUGHT, DO IT! It's the best 60 bucks I've ever spent.
