Frederic Goaty is so enthusiastic -- I reckon he's probably a bigger Prince fan than many of us. I enjoy his reviews with one exception : his uninspired borrowings to English. I'm no "puriste", but I find it odd and annoying that he feels the need to use such words as "members" and "before". What does it add in terms of "local color"? Absolutely nothing. If I were Frederic, I wouldn't borrow for such ordinary words. Thank goodness, there's fewer of them this time. His last two or three Prince reviews were full of perfectly expandable English words that dimmed an otherwise imaginatively-written column.
