First report on Worcester, MA concert Just got back from the Worcester, MA show and it was a very, very solid performance. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but, needless to say, I was not disappointed. Pre-concert nonsense was held to a minimum (surprising due to the last minute announcement). We stood in line for only 90 minutes to pick up tickets at will-call and waited another two hours inside for the show to start. I can't remember the entire setlist so I'll just point out some of the highlights:
[pre:0deadbeef0] Housequake Ballad Of Dorothy Parker I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man (with a nicely extended guitar part at the end) God (a beautiful jazz instrumental interpretation) Mutiny Uptown/Controversy (show opener; superb) Darling Nikki Scandalous Nothing Compares 2 U [/pre:0deadbeef0] Plus all the usual classics (Kiss, Let's Go Crazy, Purple Rain, etc). The band sounded great. Prince was absolutely out of sight. Very tight dance moves, always on time, never missing a step. The sax/flute player (I forget his name) was also outstanding. I was not that impressed with his new dancer; he's certainly had better (yes, I miss Mayte). The closer was a Santana cover (old classic stuff; forgive me Carlos but I can't name that tune) and it was perfect. My friend Kerry got her cmaera confiscated during the show so we had to hang around for about 30 minutes afterwards to get it back. It was worth it when they walked us up onstage and through the dressing room. Kinda cool to see all his gear up close. All in all a great night but it's almost 2 AM and I'm beat. Plus they haven't even finished the vote counting yet which just leads me to believe: Prince For President in 2004!!! | |
