Second report on the Worcester show

This will be by no means a detailed report on the, as he repeatedly said, "Boston" show. I just got home to Maine and am stone deaf in my left ear but, boy, was it worth it! It started WAY late (just about two hours late, actually). We were waiting in line near the stage door and he only showed up and did the soundcheck at 6:30ish. Once we were finally let in, I was on the floor, dead center, about 15 feet from his microphone. It was really a total "Prince" show, with (to the best of my recollection) nothing newer than "Cream" played. The show kicked off with "Uptown" "Controversy" and "Mutiny" back to back to back. His look was very much lovesexy crossed with controversy, if that makes sense. I think "Little Red Corvette" came soon after the first three, but here my recollection goes all fuzzy. He seemed to play almost all of the Purple Rain album, which was cool. He did several SOTT songs (The Ballad of Dorothy Parker, U Got The Look, Housequake) and, of course, Kiss (where he brought several people up on stage. He did the Staples Singers "When Will We Be Paid..." after delivering a short sermon to the crowd. He closed the show, with no encore, with a Santana piece. Very lively show, much screaming guitar. Far far more enjoyable for me than the JOTY show I saw at the Fleet Center a few years ago. It did strike me odd that there was a complete lack of anything new or even recent (gee...everything he played was from the Warner Brothers albums...). I did notice a table of merchandise on the way out, but it seemed to be fairly cheesy looking t-shirts and Rhonda's CD. The shirts were all ones that were (briefly) on the New Funk page a few days ago, and may be available there with the "relaunch". All in all, kind of an odd show, but I loved it!
