New Lenny Kravitz DVD

This isn't strictly prince-related, but thought you might be interested, anyhow, cuz of the Rave dvd which lenny was on. I work for Virgin, and we are starting our marketing push for Lenny Kravitz's own new DVD... it looks pretty awesome. It's kind of like the Rave disc, but a bit more 'structured'. ALSO there is a new LK album in the works, accordng to his site, http://www.lennykravitz.com ... the new record is called 'Funk'... no idea what it sounds like but i'm sure it will be HOT! (I didn't even know about the album until I saw the mention on his site!)

Anyhow, I'm a big Prince and Lenny fan and thought others might want to know about the new dvd and album.

It may not be Prince news, but I'm stoked. Big Lenny fan here. The last Lenny DVD was a disappointment to most fans though...

ITs Prince related, because many Prince fans, also follow Lenny Kravitz. And in my opinion, with Prince slipping as far as his musical output goes, Lenny is the next best thing i have. The last Lenny DVD was good, but i cant stand the constant interuptions. I just want to see a killer live performance in full. Another Prince DVD would be great. Anyone got news on the rumours of a ONAL DVD?

THIS DVD HAS BEEN OUT FOREVER, AND WITH REGARDS TO LENNY I USED TO BE A FAN UNTIL I REALIZED WHAT MANY TOLD ME, THAT HE IS A MEDIOCRE MUSICIAN WITH THE ABILITY TO STEAL FROM ALL HIS HEROES, HIS MUSIC IS REPETITIVE, DERIVATIVE AND UNADVENTEROUS, I SAW HIM LAST SUMMER IN NEW YORK AND HE BORED THE SHIT OUT OF ME, PLAY ALL HIS MUSIC FROM HIS FIRST ALBUM TO HIS LAST AND TELL ME THE SHIT DOES NOT ALL SOUND THE SAME, HE GETS BY BECAUSE DROVES OF FEMALE FANS PRAISE HIM, WHEN I SAW HIM I JUST SAW DROVES WHITE GIRLS SCREAMING FOR NO APPARENT MUSICAL REASON, LETS TAKE HIM OFF HIS HIGH HORSE, HE'S OVER RATED, THE P COMPARISONS ARE NATURAL, BOTH BEING MULTI-ISTRUMENTALISTS AND STUFF, BUT LENNY IS NOT A FRACTION OF THE MUSICIAN P IS, IF ANY LENNY FANS WANNA DEBATE ME, I AM HERE

It is always difficult to keep your own opinion when people overload you with cliches, as ...mediocre musician, stealing from all his heroes...Lenny is an o.k. artist and who hasn't stolen from what has done in the past...Come on!!!, Although Prince developed his own sound in the past it also was strongely influenced by others...and about the girls...i do not know an artist who doesn't have to deal with groupies...perhaps a bit of envy your side...

Peace and be wild

oh rafael you got me, your totally right, not, okay then no cliches, lets look at it from a pure musical analysis, yeah prince has influences, unless a musician lived in a cave they will have influences, i used cliches because lenny is a cliche, i read alot of music journalism, now the jig is up when it comes to lenny, he is not really respected by the music journalists of his time, if u read his album and concert reviews, you'll find many people who echo my same views, but hey i guess we are all envious, there is a big difference between being "influenced by" and just plain "ripping off" prince has been heralded for taking music to the next level, cant say the same for jimi wannabe wah wah guitar rock boy, i have the articles, let me know if u want me to quote them, the envy comment is such a cop out, learn how to debate, whenever someone has a critique, guess what, they must be jealous

Hi,
but who cares about what music journalists have to say...
they just write what people want to hear in a certain moment of time...and i understand what you mean by influenced by and ripping off...but you can interpretate these things the same way...What is true music??? Public Enemy think they make true music but most of their music are what you call ripp offs...They create it in something new which can be said to be rippoff, but isnt it so that it all has to do with that everyone has his own interpretation of a statement...someone can say: well this is absolute innovative while another person says "what do you mean by innovative , can you explain...i interpretate innovation as something completely different ...
.
Do you know what i mean?...

Well, to keep it a bit on-topic then... Prince is said to be appearing on LK's new album on a track called "God Is Funky!"...

Lenny Kravitz: bored

He had me going in the early nineties, then it was just the same boring stuff, he's like mister "super hip", who looks like he struggles playing guitar solos.

Prince kicked his ass on the Rave show. It just shows you how Prince has that untouchable quality that Lenny lacks.

Nah, sorry, next.

It should matter, he's in the music business! It's not just the Fashion or Tabloid business.

Anyway, I just noticed something about the Lenny website, he's totally biting Prince's Dirty Mind era style with the sunglasses and attitude.

What a lame ass title for an album. "Funk" is just to plain.
What about "Funk Bible" since Prince never used the title.

What about "I'm Lenny and I'm far from Original on any level. Hell, I'm naming this album Abbey Road" for this new album title?

And the boy's LYRICS?

OH MY GOD
He's NO GOD,
he eats COD,
ain't he ODD.

Talk about lame...
Like he has any skills to play real funk... It would be pretty pretentious to call an album "Funk Bible" nowadays with all these unfunky/wannabe funky/funkless fags out there...

Tom Willis is funkier than Lenny.

Lenny was good when he first came out but he's like owning a
Suzuki 4x4. It looks good when you first get it but if a real car bumps into it it will get dented up.

It's great that he has the dough and the lovely ladies but he's more derivative than Steve Miller.

It's like cereal box rock.

I got to say it...

Shut up will you? Leave it out... Leave Lenny alone. You do music? Then lets hear you, eh?

Getting sick of hearing ppl, not just you, slagging of real talent like Lenny and Prince. It is so boring and obviously mostly done to get some kind of recognition of being a comedian, when the joke is boring, repetitive and lame.
