Hi... I'm kinda a new Prince fan.. I'm just wondering why so many ppl, or at least according to this article, seem to have a bit of animosity towards the guy. I mean... he owned the house right? So why should it be anyone elses' business if he 'dozes it and moves to Toronto?
I guess it just seems to me that some ppl get so much into an artist (thats what he is, non artists won't understand and call him weird) that they have to pry into the dude's personal life... It just seems wrong. Being a musician/artist myself I can understand the urge to be different and do wild things simply to express one's fancy... so why do people use it as an excuse to try and unravel every bit of his social life? Sure I'm interested in why he canned the black album, sure i'm curious as to what motivates a lot of the unconventional things he does. But that's what artists do, things that everyone may not understand. I'm not sure if that gives us a right to pry simply because someone is a celebrity yknow? I'm more interested in finding out more about this artistic soul by way of his music. Like other "celebrities" he's a real person with motivations and just the same right to not be treated like some kind of commodity. Maybe its just me... "They can legislate til their pens run dry
but they'll never understand the likes of you and I never representented 'cept for in the soul and mind a god made disease, a scourge of mankind"

No, better yet, let's all email CJ, call her "Stinkorena" and tell her that she sucks. That will really get her goat. I am soo sad to see that the pretty purple house is no more. Good thing I got pictures of it. RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Maybe Prince is going to build something better or bigger?
Who knows? What bothers me is why doesn't he have even a little bit of sentiment towards a house that his dad lived in that would prevent him from tearing it down? I know you have to move on ,but even though Iam a grown woman I still love to go by the house my grandmother lived in when she was alive, it is sort of like part of her is still here. I love her old house and if anything happened to it I would feel bad. Prince has so much money, why didn't he just let a relative live in or something? It makes me wonder if for some reason he did it out of spite, or because someone else advised him to do it.

Big fat hairy deal.
All this speculation over what the man did on/with his own personal property. "Maybe it's a JW belief thing!" "Maybe he doesn't want it to become a museum!" "Maybe he can't stand the thought of someone else living in it!" "Maybe he's leaving Minneapolis!" "Maybe he doesn't want to pay the taxes!" "Maybe it brings back bad memories!" "Maybe it was condemmed by the health department!" "Maybe it was infested with aliens!" "Maybe he got pissed because the carpets needed cleaning and he decided to tear the whole thing down and start from scratch!" In the long run...what difference does it make? I've gone to find myself. If I should return before I get back, keep me here.

It's very symbolic. Doesn't seem weird to me. Prince seems to be moving on. Good on him. Fly Prince, fly!!

Maybe he thinks the empty house sitting on the land is a horrible waste, and he would rather plant trees there to help replenish the horrific loss of trees being purposley destroyed for resources in the world. Also, it will give some wild life a new home. I know it wont' cure the world's problem, but it only takes one person to set an example. If these are his reasons, way to go Prince, help preserve the earth from our children.

For those who reply without reading through a thread first...
Prince moved out of this house in 1985. Much material between '81 & '85 was recorded in the basement. Prince may intend to sell the property and doesn't want the new owner to exploit the house giving tours and such. Totally understandable. Maybe Prince will have the peace sign gate installed over at Paisley. Oh, but CJ said Paisley has been deserted. LOL!
