Prince performed at Paisley Park on March 8

There's an article on about Prince performing at Paisley Park on http://www.jazzmagazine.com/ March, 8. The article is in French so I translated it so that you can read it. Here it is:

"A journalist from Saint-Paul Peter Cato attended a Prince concert at Paisley Park on March, 8. He says he was baffled by the concert and that the performance was tremendousThere's an article on http://www.jazzmagazine.com/. about Prince performing in Paisley Park on March,8. The article is in French so I translated the most interesting . The show began at 11PM in front of about 200 people. Renato Neto was on keyboears, Rhonda Smith on bass, John Blackwell on drums, the Hornheads on horns, Esther Godinez (friend of Sheila E's and ex-drumemr form George Benson), Eric Leeds on sax and a new guitar player from Los Angeles Ella King. Apart freom a few recent tracks : Avalanche, Mellow, Family Name, The Work and Have a Heart Prince only played new songs which may be on his next album that is said to be called "2000 Free : The Revelation Year". Funk and blues influences were even more present than on the One Nite Alone Tour. The concert started with a completly changed version of Kiss which sounded like a blues with a lot of horns. Also a alternative version of Shy with an accelerated beat. He performed other songs that he mentionned having rewritten : Dark, I Wish U Heaven, Walk Don't Walk, Willing And Able, Come, When U Love Somebody, I Feel For You, Little Red Corvette, Moonbeams Level and Paisley Park. He also covered three songs : Love Is The Answer by Todd Rundgren, Jesus by Curtis Mayfield and Too High by Stevie Wonder. Then he played six new songs entitled The War Script ( a very political song in which Prince says how much he is strongly opposed to George W. Bush, a very rock even hard rock track) , Love Stories (weird and sad electronic love song ) , I Ain't No Fool (more RnB, talking again about American domestic policy), Incantation ( a three-part instrumental song with once more very storngly engaged lyrics laughing at Black and White American paranoia), The Silent Majority and Wow( a gospel pop song close to Forever In My Life).
The concert ended at 01:15AM. Peter Cato doesn't know whether Prince upcoming concerts will sound the same, with the same setlist and even if the musicians will be the same... However he learned that the NPGMC is currently "under reconstruction" and that the new album is finished and should be out in June."

Yeeehhhaaa

God I hope this is true. A new Prince album in June. Prince writing political lyrics = cool. I've said it before, I like it when Prince has a "bee in his bonnet" about something or is angry and wants to make a comment. Look how good a track like Sign O The Times is!

I hope "2000 Free: The Revelation Year" (crap title) gets a proper commercial release.

Strange that TRC is only now getting a commercial release (ie not import) in the UK and this could be close behind?

Strange also that two articles on the ORG today both refer to a new Prince album coming in June and they are both French sources?

What's going on?
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

I'll bet $ 10 that it's actually "2003: The Revelation Year", mispelled by a Frenchman ..."three" sounds like "free"...get it!?

Wow!

Could this mean a new fan realignment?

Wellbeyond becomes Prince staunchest critic. biggrin

Supa sets his Prince shrine on fire. biggrin

Bart goes gaga for Prince again and dusts up his Sign O' the Times peace earring. biggrin

Alex Hahn halts publication of his bio and retitles it Processed : The Rise and Rise of Prince. biggrin

Michael Moore is finally comfortable admitting he's a Prince fan and reveals he's been posting all along under "Aerogram". biggrin

Icenine never ever talks to Aerogram again. biggrin

as me & my friend FunkyStrange were just discussing...
the setlist is totally a fan's imagination at work...

& as if a french magazine would report something that happened at paisleypark when we have MPLS fans here who would be the 1st 2 know of anything re; a gig at PP.

this whole two thousand free: revelation year
is something that someone has obviously made up...
as it sounds cheesy, even for Prince.

let's hear a REAL fan's review.

oh btw..."However he learned that the NPGMC is currently "under reconstruction"
lol

so has any other dickbrain who has visited the site

I hope it's in the same vein as TRC, only with 'more blues and funk'. And the political lyrics remind me of the revolutionary lyrics in Dirty Mind and SOTT.

Joshy84au and FunkyStrange, I would have the same doubts if Frederic Goaty was not such a serious and well-informed journalist. This makes me almost 100% confident taht this concert indeed took place. However it would be great if another attendant could confirm, since it is indeed very weird that none of our devoted Minneapolis fans has been able to post this before!

In these troubled times, I need more Prince music to soothe my aching head. My heart is saddened to be a witness to this so-called war. People are dying and I am afraid this is only the beginning. I hope his new album is his most political ever ala' Marvin Gaye (What's Going On).

PS, Play That MotherFunkin' Bass!

I would be very surprised if this concert actually happened . I have had one of the principle musicians mentioned who played at this concert on my radio show 3.17.03 and not one word said on this show. And we discussed Prince guesting at her recent show in Minneapolis.

so... be very wary of what people say...

Once again it would be VERY surprising from Jazz Magazine to publish an article on a faked concert. It really has never happened, and this magazine has been published for many many years. The only possible justification would be a "poisson d'avril", but it really ain't funny!

I don't read French, but I didn't see this article on the webpage for the magazine and the index doesn't mention Prince being in the magazine. Has anyone besides the poster actually seen the article in the magazine?

BTW as someone who considers themselves fairly plugged in I would be amazed if this gig happened and I didn't hear about it (if not beforehand certainly after)

I'm 99.99 percent sure this is fake.

The person starts off saying that from a few tracks, mellow, etc, it was almost entirely new songs. Then they go on to list a load of old songs Prince supposedly played, then finally a few new ones at the end? (that just happen to reflect the French view of things!)

Right there that's mixed up, though I suppose it could be something to do with the translation...

There's no way something like this could happen without someone on the org knowing about it. I reckon this journalist just had a dream! "Well, it happened... in my head!"

I've seen the article on the website, it's still there. If you go to the homepage, at the top on the right side you see the followong text:

"Pour sa quinzième livraison, Frédéric Goaty nous livre (notamment) un scoop princier... D'où cette mise en ligne avant le 1er du mois d'avril."

If you click on the text you will be able to read the article. The only thing that worries me is the part where it says "D'où cette mise en ligne avant le 1er du mois d'avril.". French is not my best language, but it says something about the first of April. It might be a joke after all, and not a very good one, I suppose...
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I Do understand French and it doesn't sound like a joke

"Pour sa quinzième livraison, Frédéric Goaty nous livre (notamment) un scoop princier... D'où cette mise en ligne avant le 1er du mois d'avril."

means:

" For his fifteenth delivery, Frederic Goaty delivers (in particular) a prince scoop to us... that's the reason why we publish it on line before the 1 st of April."

may June let us all see the truth

Every time Prince farts we have a thread on it directly and now when there was a performance at PP we only hear it after almost three weeks?

This must be made up by some bored French journalist.

"dont il se murmure déjà qu’il ne s’intitulerait plus “2000 Free : The Revelation Year” mais (j’ai du mal à le croire, mais pourquoi pas…) “The Purple House” –, de “nouvelles” reprises et de vieux standards réarrangés." That seems to not have been well translated: that means the new album would not be called "2000 free" (strange name indeed), but "the purple house", with only new interpretations of old songs, and reworked songs from other artists...There are enough details in this article to make me believe in it, and F. Goaty is a serious guy I guess, but these words about the first of april seem strange aren't they? I'm gonna try and joint Goaty by email to ask him...
Sorry for my poor english...
