Chaka Khan in Scotland 5/31 -- report

Chaka Khan live 31st May 1999 @ SCC Clyde Auditorium, Glasgow.

Nice plush new venue with comfy seats. Unfortunately this made the crowd wanna sit down 4 most of the show.

There were a few hardcore fans I new, a few had travelled a fair bit from over the UK, and the rest were casual listeners and old northern soul boys.

Set list included (in no particular order):
[pre:0deadbeef0]
Once You Get Started
Stay
My Funny Valentine
I Feel 4 U
Spoon
This Crazy Life Of Mine
Sweet Thing
I'm Every Woman
Ain't Nobody
[/pre:0deadbeef0]
The audience finally got 2 thier feet a few songs 2wards the end when Chaka annouced the girls anthem, folled by Ain't Nobody. She shook hands with a number of people dancing down the front (including me of course! - what else would u expect!) and kissed a gay guy full on! Chaka seems 2 b popular with the gay community judging by the crowd.

The whole show was from 9pm to 10:30pm. The show is being broadcast on Radio 2 in the uk on Wednesday at 8:00pm - 9pm.

The support band was The James Taylor Quartet, who were probably pretty good, however there was a better support at the bar, courtesy of miller beer, so I missed them.

Chaka asked how many people had bought the new CD and joked cuz only about 10 people seemed 2 have raised their hands. She said it was probably her best album ever, which I must agree 2. It's a shame she didn't play more new tracks.

There was no setlist onstage, the piece of paper stuck 2 the floor in front of CK's mic was the names of the band! It was a totally different band from the 1 that played at cafe de paris, so I presume it was a bunch of session guys.

I just got back from the gig, so I'll add more info after the radio broadcast.
