Tonight's show was no exception, and was the best I'd seen it since Hawaii at the anniversary experience working the new band back then. He was in a great mood tonight. Popping out during Larry's set with the "Tora Tora" mask on for free and some killer guitar licks on "The Jam" I knew we were in for a treat. Lights went down, a speech about the death of christ and how that was the greatest mermorial of all anf then straight into Sign of the Times. It was a pleasure seeing the long hair again, big ass earring, and LOTS of guitar. He was in full effect tonight. With Mike Scott being gone, he had to do all the guitar parts and I must say I liked it a lot better. New percussion girl (sorry I don't know her name) and his percussion set up with his keyboards gave it a new little latin flavor. SOTT rocked. As usual Talkin Loud was next and was full of new breaks and a little sax and Bass solo from Jerry & Larry gave it a nice twist from the usual jam. The next part of the set was pretty standard, but the intensity was overboard. After a rippin' version of the "Christ", a little intermission (and a costume change) is when it started really going off. Let's Go Crazy/She's Always in my Hair/U Got the Look/Kiss/Gett Off was the highlight of the set for me. Everyone was tight. The band was ON, He was ON, and the crowd was really goin' off, at least where I was. As I've said more than a few times already, LOTS of great guitar!!! A nice version of NCTU toned down the mood for a second, the the standard outtro Take me with you / Raspberry Beret. The encore was pretty standard, seeing "Come On" was the highlight for me in that part. That's about it, the anouncement was made saing he'd be playing @ Studio 54 the next night. I was bummed, cause I had to get back to SF for work. If it was anything like last time at Studio 54 it'll be killer as well. The only bummer about the Garden show was it was WAY TOOOOO SHORT. ( not to mention nothin' new at all. )A little less than 90 mins. of music. On that aspect it was really weak, but the performances were great and really high energy, so I guess it was all worth it. I had'nt seen it since Vegas last time, and going back to see it again there was a pleasure. Look forward to hearing what happened @ Studio 54. Gotta roll, see ya'll later. | |
