Ah, fuck, shit, piss!! I knew Prince would fuck up his tv gig. Noone wants to hear any crap from that awful RC album, and Everlasting Now is just a soulless jam. Why can't he just sit down on the piano and play something good..Waaa
All you others say Hell Yea!! woot!

Oh man, I'm gonna forget you said this. RC is the most creative album he's done since the Gold Experience album. Yeah, there is a bunch of JW shit on there, but the music is kick ass! I dig the new version of Everlasting Now since he's put in the new horn line. I would have rathered had another song, but this is cool.

Now that they've announced it, he'll probably play something else. HA!

"sbacon1999" is probably right, but if he does play the song it won't matter much as most people don't listen to the lyrics anyway. All most viewers of the Tonight Show are listening for is a good hook/melody.

Everywhere

Did you notice the listing on Leno's site has him down for Dec. 12th? They also have the Wall Flowers down for the 12th. I'm sure it must be a typo.
I would love to see Prince have the show to himself. Having him perform at least a couple of tunes, and an interveiw.
I wonder if he, and Jay will continue the pranks they pulled on the last show.

Unfortunately, I feel the same way. When I read this news, I put on Everlasting Now to anticipate what vibe he'd bring to the show. But that hook "accurate knowledge of Christ and the Father will bring the Everlasting Now" and "share the truth, preach the good news" is not only awkward but offensive. It's going to turn a lot of people off, including fans that aren't Christian or conformist.

I can't rock to that. When the song gets to those words, my heart sinks. Yeah, he should have done a nice, jazzy piano set.

too bad. this is not going to make people say 'hey, i forgot how great Prince was, let me go buy some albums."

You know what? The only reason you feel this way is because you KNOW he's right. That's the only reason why you're getting all uptight. Well it's not Prince's fault you you can't get past your shallowness. So do yourself a favor, and don't watch it when it comes on.

That's what you think. I'm willing to bet that performance will make the viewers at home shake their asses and then get to the record store and buy themselves a copy.

This is an excellent choice. THis cut is as good as any of the old 80s classic party anthems that Prince did (DMSR, Gonna Be a Beautiful Night, Baby Im a Star). It will rock the house

The Everlasting Now is THE jam. Just try sitting still through those George of the Jungle drums. lol
Anyway, too bad some people are so put off by the religious aspect of the song that they just can't enjoy the music.
And let's face it. Whatever song Prince chooses to play is gonna cause disagreement. There's just too many great one's to choose from. You know there are those fans (probably not on this site) who were hoping he'd play Purple Rain. nuts
And can I just say one more time how fucking awesome One Nite Alone Live! is. This is music and musicians at their best.
Freedom is wonderful and Warner Bros. can go fuck themselves. lol

my thought exactly...u just beat me to it smile...i would love to hear something we've never heard before...smile or maybe something from ONA since he did The Work Pt. 1 on Jay's show in May of 2001...seems redundant to do something from TRC again...

Why not play something like "1+1+1 is 3"? He could do a funky kick ass version of that song and avoid turning anyone off with the JW stuff.

I mean really..it was one thing when Prince's religious feelings..while there..were more subtle; hidden in lyrics with double meaning. But not everyone wants to hear about "Christ and the father". Or even believes in that stuff. He's NOT going to be singing to a crowd consisting solely of rabid Prince fans.

Well at least he's not going to sing "Avalanche" with that crap bout Lincoln.

Well, apparently you don't get what he is saying and that should have always been the case cause he is doing this music for HIMSELF!!! If you happen to enjoy so much the better but essentially it is all for him to enjoy. These are his belief system and although he is singing about it if you don't get it then it is your soul that doesn't get it. Now I am not a JW but I understand the basis for such a spiritual a message but you have to open your heart and minds which he has been saying for quite a few years.Prince has always been on spiritual quest and maybe JW is what he needs for himself and I think he is just expressing himself the only way he can.
