Belgian TRC distributor

The Rainbow Children now has an official Belgian distributor : Bang!

Bang! is a small Belgian record company that worked with dEUS from 1993 (the digipak release of the Zea EP) to the middle of 1998, when dEUS signed directly with Polygram/Universal. It is said that Universal paid 500,000 euros to get rid of the Bang! contract.

Bang! was originally based in Namur (French speaking part of Belgium) but moved to Brussels when dEUS started growing bigger. Besides dEUS they also distributed in Belgium the bands on 62TV Records (Mad Dog Loose among others) and several indie bands including Pavement.

Bang! is also the reason that for a while obtaining bootlegs in Belgium was a real hassle (it still is, but it's gotten better). After they discovered there was a dEUS bootleg out there, they actually visited a lot of record stores themselves to check out whether they had it. If they did, the Bang! people later returned with the ploice, tax inspectors, IFPI people etc and seized all the bootlegs of all bands in the store (well, if they recognised them as bootlegs, I know at least one case where they didn't check the LP section for instance).

Thanks for the info Bart. How come you know so much inside information? Did you do your own research on the web?

Do you know if the 'Belgian' TRC is already in shops?

Peace,
Antoon.

You might find it in some, but I doubt that there's gonna be much demand for this. It's been nearlya year since the record was released, I'm frankly amazed that so many companies in Europe are picking up the distribution now. My guess is that they hoped to sell some on the back of the ONA tour.

It was dead weeks after it's release. The record shop I got the info from isn't stocking it anymore, and I know plenty other shops that won't stock many items either. The few reviews of this album were done months ago, and those mags ain't gonna re-run them because it happens to be released officially now. And I don't see Bang! running a major ad campaign.
