I'm glad they care about the non-fans enough to allow them access to free music, while we have to pay 100 dollars for ous.

the e-mail's for real, i got it too. In fact i posted it in the news but guess someone beat me to it. $100/4cds= $ 25, 3cd set X $25= $75, which = price for One Nite Alone Live for a U.S. member who didn't spend tons of money to take advantage of the concerts in Europe or Japan. Assuming I'll get another piano CD as a bonus like the e-mali suggested and give it to my friend, he'd only have to pay $42.95 (www.cheap-cds.com ... look up prince) for the ONA Live set. MEMBER cost: $100... NON MEMBER cost: $42.95 for the same damn cds. Hmmm... guess the 3 cds we were supposed to get: the last december, O+> 's greatest hits, and Xenophobia are shelved just like High and a million other things he promised to put out.

Yes, the One Night Alone studio album is packaged inside the box set. Meaning all of the "exclusive membership content" will now be happily sold to anyone with $55.

They're padding the box set with CDs already produced, so then they can pad the cost, too. Granted it's a companion to the live set from the tour of the same name, but the entire box set, along with the studio album, was supposed to be exclusive to members. They're saying to give the ONA studio CD to a friend because most members should already have it, while the box set they'll be selling in stores will need it included for the non-members; it's simply not worth the cost to produce 2 different versions of the same set, when he can just send out a CD everyone already has.

The retail version of the box set does not contain the ONA CD.

The CD's were never advertised or promised as 'exclusive'. The only guarantee was that members would be served first.

The 'One Nite Alone' piano album however, is not part of the retail version.

I beg to differ to that last response: Here is a quote from the NPGMC:

By joining the NPG Music Club, U will b given access 2 an xclusive array of xperiences from PRINCE & The New Power Generation, including new unreleased Prince CDs, live events, special merchandise items, concert deals, and much more.

Please note the words 'xcluvsive' and 'unreleased'

You Ingrate!

It's not a joke-it's an option;join,don't join,whatever!

You were promised 4 cd's, you're getting 5 cd's total!Quit your whining, it's tiresome!

Sdldawn: think about your mal-content behavior over the year! You bought into a club that said you would get at least 4 cd's and concert perks! Mission accomplished!

YOU plunked down $100 to a vague music club and are unhappy because they didn't EXCEED your GREEDY,IMPATIENT expectations. You are really the "f*cking joke" when you think about this;as if the fate of past projects like NPGMC year 1's "Rainbow Children" handling + "Crystal Ball" and "Rave in2" going to general sale. Can't you see the red flags, Sdldawn? Guess not- blame THAT on your malcontent!

your pal,

Pimpy!

Yes, club members were promised xclusive CD's. If this will be released in stores, then it is not xclusive. Club members should have had first chance to purchase this release. This should NOT be included in the free xclusive CD's. This has nothing to do with GREED. This is what was promised.

I want some XCLUSIVE CDs... like others i think the $100 is a rip off, but I guess nothing about the club will be changed. Even if P raises the price to $1000 per member i bet there would still be nuff loonies to join.

The ONA piano album was unreleased when we got it. At the very least we got it 6 months early if they do release it to the public. Anyway, I saw 2 soundchecks, 2 shows and an aftershow. My club membership was well worth it.

But I must agree that the club has not really delivered exactly what was promised. It doesn't bother me, because it was still well worth the $100. But I can understand why people are irritated. I personally will never totally forget the infamous "Crystal Ball fiasco" of a few years ago. But the good outweighs the bad, so I stick around.

So if you feel like it wasn't worth the $, don't sign up for it next year. Those of us who got our money's worth will sign up again.

I think Prince would be better off charging $9.99 a month for the club. Then all these low IQ people who are screaming "$100!!?!?" will shut up, even if they end up paying more for the club in monthly installments.

Yes, $100 is a ripoff...for you because the content is not worth it to you. But SURPRISE!!!...the club is not run for you and you alone. That price is reasonable for enough people to keep the club profitable and continuing.

If the price was $1000 and someone is rich enough to pay that, that doesn't make them a "loony". It just makes them wealthier and more successful than you...or me for that matter.

Anyway, the world doesn't revolve around you, genius. Don't be so angry and bitter just because there are many fans who feel they get much value for their $100.

Ah man, I'm jammin' it right now. All the naysayers' words vanish. Prince will never let us down. A true musician with a master plan. I'm so glad to be part of the NPG Music Club. If there was a lifetime membership fee, I'd pay it right now with total confidence in Prince's output.

Long live the New Power Generation!

So much for that idea.

The NPGMC is like a fancy snooty restaurant that charges you $100 to get in the door. You get some appetizers for free..yes; but the place is going to charge you for the main course, the wine to wash to all down and the desert at the end.

If Prince was smart he'd charge $25 for the membership. Offer the chance for genuinely CHEAP concert tickets if and when he went on tour. Every month he'd put together a CD of the stuff he has in his vault and offer it for sale to members like a video or book club does. Let's say $20-$25 depending on how many CDs it included. In the end we'd pay more but also end up with more. Hell it could be something he and Larry (put that hanger on to work!) burned on a CDR; but if the quality was excellent we'd lap it up. (The man could have offered individual shows from his tour every month rather than this homogenized, overdubbed, mish mash of shows we'll be getting.)

Of course this isn't going to happen. The man is free now but he's still letting the bootleggers release the stuff the fans clamor for. Didn't he write that in the past he wanted to release stuff left and right but his record label didn't want him to? Whatever happen to that Prince and here is his now. The NPGMC could really use him.
