I can't speak for everyone. But I would assume that most people joined early because they wanted access to the new cds as soon as possible. For instance, if you still have not joined, then that would mean you still would not have the One Night Alone piano cd. And what a treat that was. 35 minutes of Prince banging his hairy balls on the piano.

Why do you insist on 'year 2' ending officially in February 2003, when the Club announced at the beginning of the year that the 2002 membership was not for a year i.e. 12 months - but for 2002, and the web site even states that:
'Each 2002 member will receive at least 4 new Prince CDs in the mail from Paisley Park b4 the end of 2002'. 'All 2002 Memberships will end at the end of 2002'. ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift. |

It's common knowledge that this set is going to retail. Friends of mine who don't even listen to Prince asked me about it: "So, Prince is releasing a box set soon?" It's been mentioned in the whosepapers and maybe on hellavision.
And that's cool, people who discover Prince many years down the road (who are still cooking in their momma's belly) will want to get this official live stuff, and I'm glad they'll be able to get it. They shouldn't have to buy it from e-bay from one of the selfish club members. They'd just go to the bootleggers to get something else cheaper. So, the question is... Will it be released on vinyl? Probably not, I think. But if it was... I would be a sucker and buy it!

Lets see what $100 gets you. 4 Cds, Updated news on the members site, Exclusive merch(love the guitar), the chance to be in the first couple of rows at his concert(without the scalpers price tag), Photos, downloads, hhmmm $100 is too cheap.
The only thing I wish was that he played another night in NY, my 5 year old daughter cried because mommy went with daddy. She says next time I go. not mommy!

I think that the common people can buy the Ona live box as a double CD .
The NPGMC members get as a bonus I guess the third CD . Like some years ago , wasn't it ? , crystal ball as a 4 cd set in stores , as a 5 cd set on his site ( with kamasutra ) . Write your REVIEW and SETLIST in the forum : http://princeinbelgium.tk/

51.99 pounds!! That's $124.78 canadian!! That can't be right... It's only 3 cd's! It'll never sell in retail.
Do people in the UK feel 51.99 is really expensive? Not sure how much a CD goes for there, but in Canada an average new release sells for about $18 (7.5 pounds). Madness. Now I think I'm really glad I'm in the club!

I attended the ONA performance at the Kodak Theatre in L.A. on April 19th, and I was closer than I've ever been before (row 2 center). At that concert, it felt like Prince was playing directly to the NPGMC section, and the $100 membership became an instant bargain.
Throw in the soundcheck (priceless) and the scorching aftershow (it could easily have justified it's own steep admission charge), and there is no way that I could have been assured of such great experience at such an awesome concert for less money. By contrast, the nearly dead Rolling Stones just limped through S.F., charging more than $300 per ticket for their best seats in a friggin' baseball stadium. For those with selective memories, I wanted to include a copy of the original proposal for year 2 of the NPGMC. Take a moment, re-read it, and then see what the membership promises. I don't see anything about "exclusive" access to 4 new CD's, just that 4 CD's of new music would be offered. Also, the preferred concert seating benefit is mentioned in the context of his plans for an "upcoming worldwide tour." Finally, for those who don't recall assurances that there would be a Celebration with preferred access for members, you'll see that it's also clearly mentioned in the original proposal. Of course I wish that the Live CD here now, but I understand the reasons for holding it's release until the tour has ended. I hope he keeps the Club for next year, charging a price that keeps the membership meaningful. If membership declines, diehards like me win, and I'll continue to have the best access to performances. The whiners can read about all of it here! High NPGMC, Year 1 of the NPG Music Club has now drawn 2 a close. Now I think I'm really glad I'm in the club! Sounds like an import price, and probably only an early guess too, these things have a habit of changing. HMV also imported TRC into the UK, which didn't get an official release here. I wonder if ONA Live will...??? For that price, you might as well join the club, which is about £65, and gets you (at least) 1 extra CD, and other stuff.

The only problem, TheMax, is that not everyone got that email, only members from year 1 did...there are many who joined the club based on things like the tourbook mentioning members wouuld recieve 4 individual and specific CDs for their $100...not just 4 CDs worth of music...while I agree with you on the "exclusive" aspects of the 4 CDs never being promised(I've argued that point myself in the past), Prince did advertise "at least" 4 separate and individual CDs would be one of the things our $100 would give us, and he did so numerous times, even going so far as to give us the names of the CDs we'd recieve if we joined...so there's no real justification on the npgmc's part to simply think it's ok to give members who joined something different than was promised...in bidniz, you can't do that and think it's ok...it's pretty damn close to a "bait and switch"...

Now this song, should be a HIT.
Well, shouldn't they all? Yes-I realize it isn't on the Live Box Set - but - he has been playin it on the live tour! If ur Last December came What would u do? Would anybody remember 2 remember u? Did u stand tall or did u fall? Did u give ur all? Did u ever find a reason Y u had 2 die? Or did u just plan on leaving Without wondering y? Was it everything it seemed? Or did it feel like a dream? Did u feel redeemed? In the name of the Father In the name of the Son We need 2 come 2gether Come 2gether as one Did u love somebody But got no love in return? Did u understand the real meaning of love That it just is and never yearns? When the truth arrives Will u b lost on the other side? Will u still be alive? In the name of the Father In the name of the Son We need 2 come 2gether Come 2gether as one In ur life did u just give a little Or did u give all that u had? Were u just somewhere in the middle Not 2 good, not 2 bad? In the name of the Father In the name of the Son We need 2 come 2gether Come 2gether as ONE. Pleeeze don't say that...lol...damn, if many of the live recordings on this box set sound as muted and energy-deprived as the version of "Xenophobia" I downloaded sounded, then I fear Prince is blowing a magnificent opportunity to show the masses how much of a motherfucker he is live...the Chicago bootleg of the concert is very, very good...makes you feel like you're right there with the crowd being blown away... By the way...am I the only one who noticed that "1+1+1 is 3" is screwed up in the song title listings on that flyer??...lol 8)
