Another report on European documentary

The French / German TV ARTE has just broadcast (January 22nd) a special Prince / The Artist program on Music Planet. This is the best report I've ever seen in 10 years !!!!! I'm not kidding. No mistake, only the truth and the real story. I do think that those who watched the report will be OK with me.

This report lasted about an hour and was made of short snippets of video clips, live shows and interviews. It began with For You and ended with Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic. They told, about the early years, his relationship with Warner Bros, the name change, his marriage and in general his hole carrier and perception of life, God, sex and music.

Several snippets of video clips were shown : "I Wanna Be Your Lover", "Controversy", "Sexuality", "Let's Go Crazy", "Purple Rain", "Automatic", "Raspberry Beret", "Kiss", "U Got The Look", "Alphabet St.", "Partyman", "Thieves In The Temple", "New Power Generation", "Question Of U", "Gett Off", " Cream", "7", "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World", "The Holy River", "The One", "The Greatest Romance Ever Sold" among others…

Some interview were also shown : Prince's interview in 1985 (during Prince's stay in France for the Under The Cherry Moon filming), several Levi Seacer Jr's interview in 1992 and 1993, interviews of other members of the NPG in 1992, interviews of Sheila E, of George Clinton, of Eric Leeds, of Owen Husney, of Mavis Staples and of music journalists (Nelson George or Edna Gunderson).

They also broadcast several snippets of the Purple Rain film, of the Beautiful Strange video and a great part of the Rave promo video.

They also showed several snippets of live shows : rehearsal '88 (The Ladder), "Head" and "Jack U Off" (1981 !!!), "Daddy Pop" (1991), "Sexy MF" and "The Beautiful Ones" (1992), aftershow 1988 (Prince sang Happy Birthday for Cat), aftershow 1988 with Ron Wood (Prince sang "Miss You"), New Year's Eve (1987-88 with Miles Davis), "A Love Bizarre" (with Sheila E on 1986), "Days Of Wild" (London 1995), "Jam Of The Year" (Emancipation Celebration Day – 1996), "Let's Go Crazy" (Mermaid Theatre 1999).

They showed Paisley Park, the small Love 4 One Another room with all the instruments set up, journalists before the performance at the Mermaid Theatre, Prince playing bass on "Partyman" in studio and also Prince and Mavis Staples recording "God Is Alive".

Great job !!!!! Many thankx to ARTE. These are the kind of reports we love to watch smile
