Dopo anni di liti con le case discografiche, Prince ha scelto di fare da solo e gestirsi la carriera da un sito Internet. Mancava dall’Italia da 12 anni e ieri sera (unica data del tour nel nostro Paese) all’ex Palavobis ha dimostrato che la libertà si può anche avere su un palco. Libertà di mischiare generi, stile ed epoche diversi in un mix unico e irripetibile. Pantaloni e giacca (sciancrata e con abbottonatura alta) neri su camicia bianca, l’artista di Minneapolis apre il concerto con una trascinante «intro» strumentale: 12 minuti fra jazz, funk e tutto quanto fa nero accompagnato dagli ottimi New Power Generation («Questa è vera musica suonata da veri musicisti, non quella che si sente in radio», ha detto a metà serata), prima di cambiare registro con la nuova «Rainbow Children», quindi chiama sul palco dei ragazzi scelti nelle prime file e stende tutti con la sensuale «Purple Rain», il suo più grande successo, durante la quale suona una chitarra forgiata come il suo segno grafico, quello che unisce il simbolo genetico maschile a quello femminile, la freccia alla croce.
