NY Post reports on the listening party http://www.pagesix.com/pa.../48150.htm
PRINCE'S listening party at Jimmy's Uptown for his new box set "One Night Alone - Live" became an "easy-listening" party when the lounge's owner, Jimmy Rodriguez, got fed up with the funkster's act and started playing Frank Sinatra. Though the party was set for 8 p.m. until midnight, Prince didn't arrive with his three huge bodyguards until 11:30 p.m., an hour after Mick Jagger had come and gone without ever leaving his limo. Prince wanted a section of the upstairs room cordoned off and Jimmy's A-list pals - including Ed Norton and Salma Hayek, Norma Kamali, John McEnroe, director Abel Ferrera and Parisian photographer Paul Steinitz - moved from their tables. Prince's people informed Rodriguez that if his friends lined up, he would grant them each a two-minute audience. Rodriguez told Prince's goons, "There's three of you. I've got 12 guys here." Then he told them that since it was midnight, their party was over. "He had the lights turned up, and had the deejay start playing Sinatra," said one source. Prince quickly told his underlings to apologize, but it was too late - the party was over. | |
