Prince Tour Produces Live Box Set

Enigmatic R&B artist Prince is preparing to grace fans with a three-disc document of his spring North American One Nite Alone tour. "One Nite Alone... Live" will initially be available to members of the artist's NPG Music Club, but is expected to be given a wider release sometime this fall.

The tour in support of his self-released album "The Rainbow Children" featured Prince and his New Power Generation band revamping a lot of his older material to create an organic, jazz-influenced sound that fit in with the new songs. "One Nite Alone... Live" comprises takes from many shows and after-show performances on the tour, with guest performers such as George Clinton and Musiq appearing on some of the set's tracks.

The box, which will come with a 48-page book of photos from the tour and liner notes with contributions from band members, is to be the first official live album of Prince's 25-year career. For details on the official NPG Music Club, visit the group's official Web site.

Looks like he really did this for fans. This isn't the type of setlist that a casual listener would be into. That's fine by me!

Rats! "No Beautiful Strange." Sigh. I will never again miss the Pre-show performance.

My personal griping aside, this is going to be an amazing compilation. The show was wonderful and it will be nice to have it on CD.

Wow, great tracklist! I'm totally loving the new "live album" trend that's going on with my fav musicians... I just got Ani DiFranco's new 2-cd live album, and it's great. I think Bjork is supposed to be releasing a new live album or DVD soon too. They're all great live performers! (let's not even waste our time laughing at Pearl Jam's sad live albums... ick!) Now, let's get Beck to do something live, and make sure he puts Raspberry Beret on it...

Can't wait to hear Strange Relationship again... weee

I think Bjork is supposed to be releasing a new live album or DVD soon too.

She's releasing a Greatest Hits cd in a couple of months, has recently released 3 live DVDs (which could've all fit on one if she'd tried, sigh) and is releasing another live DVD soon.

(let's not even waste our time laughing at Pearl Jam's sad live albums... ick!)

oh no you didn't...I LOVE that they released all they're concerts as affordable soundboard recordings. No 2 nights are ever the same (Prince, take note) and they're releasing all their shows from their upcoming tour and thinking of releasing some pre 98 concerts as well...yippee!!
And their club only costs $20 for pre-sale tickets, retail exclusives, Xmas single etc

That being said a live Prince album is something worth celebrating (but imagine a whole tour!)

Jeez, this sounds incredible.
On the subject of the upcoming ONA tour: I'm going to be travelling to London from Johannesburg, South Africa to see the show- got me tickets already heh heh. I'd be curious to know if there are any others making a long distance 'pilgrimage' to see the clever little fella.

Too bad he did not get the rights tio release "Love Rollercoaster" on the set. Anyway it will still be one heck of a collection. What he can do is set up an on line voting poll for a career live set from all the years he has toured. it would be what the fans fam of his club want most. Or use the votes for a best of/fam fav set.

They're both covers. 'Just friends' is originally by Musiq Soulchild and If you want me to stay is 'Terence Trent D'arby'

Actually, if you look at the tracklisting on the DOW single, only "1+1+1 is 3" is really taken from the ONA Live album. And it's up there on the tracklist.

Prince is the best musician on the Planet and this live set will show the world (if they listen) that he is. I was at "The Paramount" in Oakland, California and I was completely blown away by his complete control of the audience and his mastery of the guitar. Prince is a phenonena, like The Beatles, Hendrix, and Sly Stone before him. Prince is a genius and sometimes "we" don't appreciate people or music until it's gone. I am in total awe of Prince and I hope maybe someday I will shake the mans hand. Thanks for the Ride Prince, I have completely enjoyed it!
