I know there's some confusion RE: Muti-disc Live album / Xenaphobia

MEMBERS wil have chance to BUY CD's 1 or 2 weeks in advance of the rest of the world.

cuz' Prince has negotiated with record company for Distribution - terms of contract meant he had to offer them EXCLUSIVE content. so, he cannot of given away free downloads of any of it. (Why would ANY record co. pay for something he's giving away for free...?? Especially as any MEMBERS are obviously hard-core fans who the said record co. can GUARANTEE sales to...!!!).

It's in final stages, so it's definetley happening. Artwork and packaging to be chosen, by Prince in next 2 weeks. Then it's all go.

3 discs are expected, plus DVD. Early November release.

(I work at record company involved, before i'm flamed.)

This is exactly what I was complaining about in the other news thread, see: "NPGMC: Tight-lipped on Euro Tour Dates" below.

If Prince/NPGMC would make more "official" information available, there wouldn't be all of this speculation from unconfirmed sources on an unofficial website.

If this is legit, then I'll be a very happy camper.
A new Prince DVD of the Celebration for us members who
didn't make it will be a like a dream come true.

I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to get the live set, but where the hell are our other 3 CDs we were supposed to receive as paying members of the NPGMC? It's already September and we've only received one!!

NPGMC owes us three more (4 in my case cus I haven't received the first one yet!) CD's and now because of "exclusive" deals with RECORD COMPANIES (remember what and who we are talking about here) we have to pay…...AGAIN!

Prince has been spouting on about free music and freedom to release his own type of music DIRECT to those who really want it for almost a decade!! NOW he has what he wants, a direct way of distributing his music to us, the fans (not exactly free but still) and he negotiates (or rather gives in to) another record company deal prohibiting him from doing the very thing he set out to do.

Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit fucked up? Are we are being taken for a ride?

MEMBERS... BUY??? This must be a set outside of what we're already getting, right? Or is he flipping the script & gonna offer us 3 cd's of something else? I'm as confused as I was when this was first announced. Not sweatin', just in the dark...

But I'm DAMN glad a DVD is in the works!!!

I wish the NPGMusicClub would be clear about what's happening. I think it's clear (?) that Prince is releasing a live 2CD album of recent live performances. Great! Can't wait. Club members will get a chance to buy these a couple of weeks before anybody else. Fine!

But I don't know why they can't be clear about the 3CDs club members are still owed. I am expecting these CDs to be of original content and not available to the general public, after all, I joined the club for EXCLUSIVE music, not just for music a few weeks ahead of everyone else.

It's a poor year compared to last year so far. All we've had is a 1CD, with 5 tracks we already had from the 1st year. I kind of have faith though that eventually these CDs will be delivered, it just might be very late in the year.

Although if he comes to England and if I get good seats, that might swing it in his favour.

In fairness, the people running the club are probably as in the dark as the rest of us, they're at the whim of Prince's moods after all, "Hey, err, Sir, we've got a lot of people clammering after their new CDs we promised, any idea when they might be finished? Just we're running out of vague excuses when they email us..." "Leave me alone! Can't you see I'm jamming with my friends 'till 3 in the morning?!"

Why doesn't this guy name the record company he works for?

Really, we already know this info. It's going to be like "Rainbow Children", the members will get it first, then a month or two later, you'll get it in stores.

...and I'll save my "told you so" speech for CalhounSq for a little later...

Right. I really don't know if this is true, because... "two weeks in advance"? That's nothing. A DVD? Unlikely.

i have ordered things from them in the past, and i'm not so certain that i would be getting my cd before it would in the store... there's no way in hell they'd have those cds out in 2 weeks... so, i would have had the option to buy it first, and i would have actually bought it first, but i would be waiting a little bit longer before i actually had it...

I think the CD's are separate: club members are getting the live ONA CD's--- and Xenophobia is an actual album meant for release which Prince is negotiating with distributors (like Redline).
Xenophobia is most likely NOT a live CD, but may have a live DVD from the Celebration coming out after--but again, i still think ONA live and Xenophobia are separate CD's.

The npgmc could clarify things at this point, but i think they would speak best by simply getting members their new CD's via airmail and the let the CD's speak for themselves.

Ok, here is what he SHOULD do


Send One Nite Alone Live! to all npgmc members, as apart of their membership, a bonus, a Thank 4 u bein my fans, eye know u put me where eye am, so here, have a gift. sorry 4 the wait, a wasnt it worth it?

Next.. In November.. around the end, make it around christmas time.. Release XENOPHOBIA 3cd set.

1 cd being the actuall STUDIO xenophobia jazz instrumental cd. the other 2 being the best cuts from the celebration (sorry fans, u can forget getting some 7 or 12 cd set of the celebration.. if u wanted 2 hear the celebration, u should have gotten ure ass up and went)
and add a extra dvd if u want, no biggie..


so go and get started on all this prince..

and Scrap this club thing after next year.. its not working out as well as u planned.. u suck at it.. face facts.. and release music through 1800 newfunk or something...

first of all we are not getting shit for free so what are they talking about. that a record company will not allow for him to give out a free album last time I checked, members of the club paid $100 dollors that is not free. How was he able to allow us to download and burn the rainbow children album before release.

1) An ONA 3-D set is forthcoming 1st to members
(1 being the Xenophobia Jam) - Free ?

2) There will be a set of Xenophobia Cd's and a DVD
that will be offererd to NPG Club members 1st-
at an additional cost?

3) Or # 1 above is an offer as well to NPG Club members
at additional cost?

or

4) None of the above? If so please elaborate.

Sdledawn. that's the only thing i disagree with...why scrap the club? I love the whole concept. It needs some work...
Yes, i think it's been too long without a CD, but we should be getting one (or 3) very soon. And so far:

He has been on tour in the US-so some members got better seats/warmup/after show tickets.
He put on the Celebration for members only in June-so some members benefitted from that-even overseas fans.
He has put a couple songs up for downloads, and on CD for sale on the npgmc website.
And almost all members have received the ONA acoustic CD.

That's nothing i want to give up in 2003. Actually, if the npgmc could handle more CD's per year, i'd be willing to raise the membership fees to $150 for 6 or 7 CD's.

Look, there's no reason to worry about this stuff. When we paid 100 dollars at the beginning of the year, we were paying for at least 4 CDs. If we don't have 4 CDs by February 2003, then he is in violation of the contract. And we sue.

Simple as that.
