Beverly Knight covers I Feel For You British soul singer Beverly Knight appeared on UK TV music show 'Cover Story' on Fri 23rd August. Each act that appears on the show is asked to play a cover version of one of their favourite songs. Beverly chose to sing Prince's 'I Feel For You'. In a short interview, she talked about her love for Prince, and that she had once got to meet him - in the liner notes to her new album she apparently thanks for Prince for 'an unforgettable 7 days and nights', although she didn't elaborate on this in the interview, except to say that it 'wasn't what you all think'...
Shocking cover, though. PIPS! Eurgh...

Was just about to submit this same story. Dermot the presenter thought he was so musically knowledgeable when he said "Prince co-wrote this with Melle Mel and it featured harmonica by Stevie Wonder". Think either he or even Bev knew Prince had originally recorded the song himself? Nah. The cover wasn't that bad, I have a very fond spot for Ms Knight especially as Prince is her favourite.

The cover wasn't that bad, I have a very fond spot for Ms Knight especially as Prince is her favourite. A couple of times over the years the dj dorks at my local station said that Prince wrote the song for Chaka Khan. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

who the hell is Melle Mel?? Grandmaster Melle Mel conceived and performed the rap on Chaka Khan's version. Although I'm not sure he is widely credited as "co-writer" with Prince on the track, this guy on TV says Prince and Mel wrote it together so he heard wrong somewhere.

Poor Dermot... maybe he'd been given the wrong info from the producers? Everyone makes mistakes man! I went to school with Dermot. Just thought I'd name drop a bit.

Shocking cover, though. The unforgettable 7 days and nights has got to be the celebration! Nah the album came out before Xenophobia and it wasn't about previous years either. When he came to promote RU2TJF album at Mermaids Theatre London she came onstage and sang with him and he promised they'd record duet etc. He likes her albums apparently.

I saw beverly knight perform in
stockholm couple of month ago. the concert was really good and the band was great. a pity that the album I feel was not half as powerful. at any rate she did a knock-out performance of "I feel 4U". more chaka khans version than prince's though.
