(8/22/02, 10 a.m. ET) -- Details surrounding the release of the new Prince boxed set Xenophobia remain sketchy. Earlier this week, Prince's spokesperson gave LAUNCH details about the release, rumored to consist of live material from the singer's critically acclaimed shows earlier this year. However, Prince saw the story, and through his publicist alerted LAUNCH that details surrounding the release of Xenophobia are not final.

A post on Prince's own NPG Music Club website says the LAUNCH story is a "misinterpretation" of a post on the site describing a "new 7-CD box set of XENOPHOBIA" that would soon be mailed to his music club members.

However, no further information about the release was offered by Prince's spokesperson or the NPG Music Club website at press time.

After all that's been said this week, I don't even think Prince know's what he's releasing.

If it's a publicity move, it creams the fams panties but he really needs to get out there, get on TV, do the interviews and promote it well. He should have promoted "TRC" like "Rave" and vice versa.

Look at Springsteen, that guy isn't commercial and yet his new CD is getting wide exposure.

wel bruce springsteen is comercial.he uses what happend onthe 11 last year.and that is very comercial .its a good album yes(not my kind of music).but bruce is very america friendly.prince is not.prince didn't fuck up(only his arista deal)he's playing he's game not the one from the music biss.eye think he's going 2 release this on yes .hope so.let the world see he's the best thing live ever.

btw I think this article is simply an attempt to make their "misinterpretation" sound plausible.

When it is crystal clear, that the NPGMC never said that these 7cd's will surely be relased, nor if they would be for members-only. It did say that members would be informed and served first.
But that doesn't mean he will release it to the club for sure already.

I think P will release this CD set...probably to general public in Sept/Oct., by then he'll be in Europe for his tour
...by all means it will coincide with his upcoming tour, especially since Europe needs tha live grease from P.

plus yall already kno this is phucked up, P tries to handle to much of his PR shit, he need to loosen up on all tha control freak bizz...and get this money ima spend on this set which will be about $85 by tha time they discount it...jus do tha math if/when P sells as many records as he did with TRC he'll get mad paid...85x100,000(or more)=8.5 mill..easy...trust me he'll have all these small distribution companies begg'n to relese thru them...he kno's somethin...
