Billboard article: Xenophobia

Billboard has posted an article in regards to the Celebration.

http://billboard.com/bill...id=1501957

Prince has announced the dates for the third annual week-long opening of his Paisley Park home studios to fans. From June 21-27, the enigmatic artist will hold the celebration, dubbed Xenophobia, at the Minneapolis studio, offering performances, moderated discussions, musical workshops, and exclusive listening sessions to new music.
{{{
Prince and his New Power Generation band will perform each night of the week, with sets on different nights by guests such as Maceo Parker, Victor Wooten, Norah Jones, Bernard Allison, Musiq, Rachelle Ferrell, and Sheila E.
}}}
Weekly passes are on sale only to members of Prince's New Power Generation Music Club (NPGMC) for $250 per person. Children under 11 are admitted free. For details of how to join or purchase tickets, visit the NPGMC Web site. Day passes will be available in a limited number to the general public.

A similar week-long celebration last year at Paisley Park offered passholders the opportunity to preview Prince's latest album, "The Rainbow Children" (NPG) months before its public release. The set debuted at No. 109 on The Billboard 200 last December.

Meanwhile, Prince has lined up nine-date Canadian tour, kicking off Friday (May 31) in Edmonton, Alberta, and wrapping June 18 in Montreal.

Here is the guest performance lineup for Xenophobia:

June 21: Maceo Parker
June 22: Sheila E. and the E/Train
June 23: Victor Wooten
June 24: Norah Jones
June 25: Bernard Allison
June 26: Musiq
June 27: Rachelle Ferrell

Some people are like Slinkies...

They're good for nothing but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

$350.00 ($250 + $100 membership fee) for a week of Prince performances plus other artistts is not expensive at all. Plus, the membership fee is inclusive of other benefits (4 cds, first choice of seats at shows in your area, etc...). I would be going except my wife is already going on a trip and I do not wish to go alone. If I could buy less expensive wekend package I would, but I'm not going to pay $250 and only be able to go one or two nights.

That expense may be out of your, mine, and a lot of other's budget, but $35.00 (or $50 if you want to include the membership fee) per day is really a good price. Any amusement park would cost about the same thing.

You're not factoring in airfare and hotel. Add that in and it gets mighty expensive.

Well I was almost about to take the trip from Norway, but my friend in St. Paul has allready left for Wisconsin and will not be able to take care of me... And the whole thing would cost me at least $1.300. But maybe next year?

aahh Bosco, you are so correct. However, Prince has no control over the variable expenses of each individual’s travel and lodging. Someone could feasibly drive from Florida and take the opportunity to see Minnesota by camping at a local campground. Another fan may prefer to fly, first class perhaps, and lodge at one of the finer hotels.

Either way, the previous email only mentioned the cost of the events. It’s all relative. I know I can’t go on vacation in a big city for 7 days without spending at least a grand. Some would spend way more, others little less.

Go have fun. I wish I could.
