Eminem namechecks Prince on new single..

...for whome it may concern. Eminem drops a Prince ref on his new single "Without Me"....
"Blah,Blah,Blah...Diss,Diss,Diss..ever since Prince turned himself into a symbol..."
Not sure if its praise or cuss.....I just see it as acknowledgement.

[It's not a dis, it's just a reference... something about he's been around writing dope rhymes since Prince changed his name to a symbol... -Ben]
Money didn't matter last night....but it sure does matter 2day!

Originally a scene in/regarding Paisley Park was in the script.. not sure if it was left on the cutting room floor...

Has anyone heard the new Pet Shop Boys track? "The Night I Fell In Love" is all about a fan and his one night stand with Eminem. It's worth checking out cause it's absolutly hilarious.

And as a post note Eminem is cool, and if he disses you or Prince, fine, he disses everyone, hence the Pet Shop Boys dissing him. Get over it!

Em...Has stated before that he loves "Prince", Em really wanted his debut film {8Mile} to be a hip hop version of "Purple Rain"... I also read in an interview that he'd like to work w/ Prince, but not sure if Prince would do so at this point, maybe, maybe not! Prince once stated just like a man, he lies too LOL...so you never know and when Prince was asked about Em; His Comment was he is an artist and if he chooses to express himself in that fashion then so be it, he actually likes Em also.

Em... was raised listening to the Minneapolis Sound!

I really can't see why you all would want Prince to work with Eminem. Out of all the wonderful musicians who stand in line just to work with him, he would choose E? Oh come on and get real. All Eminem stands for is hate, swearing, cussing, abuse, no respect for anybody at all especially women. That's not what Prince is about I'm ever so glad. If Prince were to do something with Eminem it will probably be a rehabilitation project of some sort. I hope there comes a day when E will see the light. Until then he doesn't deserve to be in the same room with Prince let alone work with him. I'm very sorry you don't share this opinion. How can you say you believe in what Prince is preaching and then say you really dig E. If he has really grown up with the Minneapolis sound I'm dissappointed that he has learned so little from it.

Have to disagree with you there. All the comments made about the 'next Prince' miss out on one vital aspect of him: George Clinton once said in an interview that Prince (back then) was what he calls 'a positive nuisance' Referring to what he (George) was also in his day.

Any great artist from Mozart through to Presley to Prince has had this quality (pissing people off and stretching boundaries of 'taste'). Right now there is only one candidate in popular music and that is Eminem.

As for Prince having a purely wholesome attitude to women, C'MON wake up.

I'm sure if you asked George now who is that positive nuisance right now, he'd agree. He has also popularised hip hop in the same way that Prince did funk back in the 80's.

Okay he doesn't have all the qualities that Prince has/had but he is vital to popular music right now, so get off your purple high horse.

On the D12 tour, before Eminem launched into "Purple Pills", they played the "Purple Rain" instrumental, so no doubt he digs P.

Yeah i saw the em tour in london and the purple rain thing at the begining. I dont think Prince fans should be so morally uptight just cos prince has turned like that. Had prince been a conservative he would not have made the impact he did in the first place.....

If I recall correct. When George Clinton talked about Prince being a positive nuisance it was because of his perfectionism, not about other things!I have it on tape, that interview so I know exactly what was said.
Just because I have morals doesn't mean I am conservative! I don't really think conservative people would dig Prince. Anyway, as a woman I have never been offended by anything Prince has said about women. Furthermore he preaches love and not hate, like Eminem does. I'm not talking about Prince now, I'm talking about how Prince has always been. And people I think I can just say what I think about Eminem without you all dissing me about being stupid and conservative thank you very much.

That song is brilliant! I am sure Eminem will write a nasty reply to "The Night I Fell In Love," but it's great for them to knock him off his hatin' attitude. Guess we'll all just have to wait for Eminem to come out of the closet! smile
