Column about keen Prince fan in The Idler magazine All the bantering on your [prince.org] forums (and a lifelong contrary relationship with the little bloke) inspired this short story for The Idler, which is a British magazine, been going for best part of a decade, long and filthy heritage etc. you might like, you might not. but wanted to let you know either way.

LOL!
He was using Prince the way most cuckolds use scotch. There would come a time when Walter and I would have to stage a Prince intervention, take away this shameful pile of pop music and frogmarch him to Tower, buy him new music, new clothes, new furniture. But not yet, we must be patient, and wait for him to hit rock bottom. "You see Prince has his own web site, and it only costs a hundred dollars a year, and if you're a member you can listen to all sorts of live tracks, and bootlegs and stuff. I'm thinking of joining."
Clearly we would not have to wait too long. I just read Evelyn Waugh's Vile Bodies. This is funnier!

ROTFLMAO!
This is too funny, it's the story of my life. The parts in bold are the parts I find particularly recognizable. I bet many of you had to go through the following conversation. I cite: "You know, when someone buys the new Prince album, they are the only ones who will listen to that record. It will never be background music at a dinner party, it is too distinctive." "It is too annoying," said Walter, ejecting the CD and rummaging through the pile for some Prince-free sounds. He flicked through the inlay of what looked like a jazz album when he stopped, horrified. "Prince has got songwriting credits on this. Is this a Prince album in disguise?" Bonehead exhaled. "They are all Prince or Prince-related albums in that pile." "There are over forty CDs here!" "And some of them are double albums, too. What can I say? He's very prolific." Bonehead had imported albums by Prince's saxophonist, Prince's rapper, Prince's ex-drummer, Prince's ex-bass player, Prince's ex-wife, four separate albums by Prince's ex-girlfriends, even a brace by Prince's ex-flatmate. He had Prince's portentous ballet album, two albums of Prince instrumental jazz, and Prince's acoustic album. And of course there were lots of albums by plain old Prince. "How many of these are actually any good?" Bonehead considered this over two final hungry gasps of his fag, "Four of them. The other thirty-six are patchy, at best. You know I have also downloaded over nine hours of other, rare Prince tracks from the internet. Do you think I have a problem?" "I think Prince has a problem, and you are just drawn to it." "Caroline would never let me listen to him." With this confession, Walter and I laid off our anti-Prince banter. We glimpsed a private, imaginary world, where Bonehead - eyes shut, headphones on tight - communed with Prince, throwing himself into the music in a way the rest of us had long since grown out of. Flat on his back, back in his flat, seeking some kind of Prince oblivion, the high-pitched preening little man waved around like a flaming brand to chase any remnants of Caroline from his thoughts." This story makes me wonder: am I a geek or not??? RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

That is so funny! I've totally been there. Flat on my back, back in my flat. But, come on!, just 5 songs?! I sure I can come up with more than that. Not songs other people would want to listen to, but still! cracknbush
