Purple Rain DVD PIC - DETAILS From USATODAY -
Prince is about to get his due on DVD. In addition to a 20th-anniversary two-disc special edition of Purple Rain, Warner Home Video on Aug. 24 is releasing Graffiti Bridge and Under the Cherry Moon on DVD for the first time. The new version of Purple Rain ($26.99) has a widescreen digital transfer of the film and remixed Dolby Digital surround sound. New extras include featurettes on the Oscar-winning music and eight music videos. "We wanted to bring (the treatment of the film on DVD) up to today's standards," says Warner's Mike Radiloff. Prince's directorial debut, Under the Cherry Moon (1986), which co-starred Kristin Scott Thomas, and the sequel to Purple Rain, Graffiti Bridge, will be one-disc releases ($19.97). I was just about to specualte on which 8 clips would be included. THis list makes sense even though those I am sure the clips for Jungle Love and The Bird are damn near the same footage from the film - they didnt make any performance parts like Prince did for When Doves Cry. Sex Shooter is so cheesy that its a classic. I have had a crappy video recording of it for years so if they include that, it would be worth the price of the DVD. | |

Unfortunately though, I don't think UTCM and GB will have any extras, other than maybe the trailers. Outtakes and the color version of Under The Cherry Moon would be awesome, but I don't see it happening.
I hope Purple Rain features the deleted scenes featured so prominently in the trailer and When Doves Cry video. But if there were outtakes it probably would've said something about it in the write-up.  |

here's to hoping that utcm & gb aren't the same quality as the transfers on the laserdiscs... (that warner remastered them for dvd... oh and that they're anamorphic...)
doesn't sound like they're anything more than dolby digital 2.0... :\ disappointing, but understandable. warner knows they won't be big sellers, so why put the extra effort into them? don't expect *anything* in the ways of extras on these either. in fact, i'd be surprised if they had trailers. | |

I think it would be awesome if at the end of UTCM it turned color when Mountains started like when I saw it in the theatre...anyone know why on the VHS version it didn't do that?
