Why do U think this song was directed@Prince?

The bonus track on Girl Bros. "Worth Your Wait in Cold" is NOT about Prince. It's about Trevor Horn. Trevor was producing an album for them, which was never released. It's been called "Friendly Fire" but that was just a working title. And it took him YEARS to produce the album, and his producing style sucked all the life out of their music. They made the brilliant Girl Bros instead, and added the little bonus track as a little shot at Trevor.

Ah, now I understand. Any idea why Trevor took so long?

Skleton Key - Yes I am the same MattUK that used to post over at imusic. I am fine thanks for asking. Is there still a lively W&L community at rollingstone? Whats the latest on the girls? New material would be great but a UK gig would be better!

"You know, you REALLY know how to hurt people. I'm getting really tired of this, really tired...."

Come on, Wendy.

I LOVE Wendy & Lisa's first album. It has all the catharsis of two people just bursting at the seams to do their own thing, and the result is a beautiful piece of music.

I wish I could get into Girl Bros., but it's just too...BEIGE...for me. I'll always buy their stuff anyway, if for no other reason, to support two cool chicks.

Funny that you say that Anxiety, I have that the other way around. I love Girlbros and consider it their best. The nuances to me speak louder than words.
First album was something of a "where-do-we-go-now"-album.
The second a firm "we-are-here"-album.
Eroica is their "we're-masters-in-our-field"-album.
And Girlbros is so heavy with emotions and underlying currents it makes me sit down and LISTEN.And cry a bit every now and then.
AND smile. It is THAT kind of album to me.
It is a "this-is-on-my-mind"-album.
And for me on the same line with Joni Mitchell's BLUE.

But the bonus 3"cd with Lisa piano improv's that went with the 1st pressing of Eroica is awsoem too.
*sigh*

Mattuk, some of us oldies are still at the RollingStone BB.....know where near as much movemement as the IMUSIC..but I think it has something more to do with the lack of output from the girrsss....

The unreleased album could have been great but Trevor's production sucked all the life and color out of it. But I think had Wendy and Lisa produced it themselves it would have been great.

I think the best album would be Prince, Wendy and Lisa starting from scratch and creating an album together. Not have them come in and "update" songs they did that are in the vault. Wendy and Lisa's music is pure magic, and that together with Prince would untouchable. I hope they play together again NOT to just relive the past, but to reinvent the future.

2 questions for the room:

Does anybody know if they contact each other at all or are even on good or hospitable terms after all this time has passed?

and secondly

Has anybody heard "It's a Wonderful Day"?
That is a great song by the band, it seems that W&L took most of the lead vocals from that song and Prince kinda did backup or something. I would say it was made around mid to late '86 just before the breakup and I think its the closest song to a, dare I say it, duet with them that I have heard to date.
Any other comments on this one?

She is a good singer, but not on A Place In Heaven. She doesn't quite manage. I really dig the things she sings on the W&L albums, she writes her own stuff and is seemingly very content and sure of herself. She doesn't sound that way on her version of A Place In Heaven.

And I know that around the time of The Purple blabla mix, Prince wanted them to do a performance. They thought; kewl. THe three of us doing some music.
Prince meant; having them wear silly outfits and walk through the audience wearing flags.
When I read THAT I decided that Prince is a silly git sumtimes.
Thank Who or WHatever they're proud, smart besides good musicians AND beautiful.

Interesting breakdown of their albums - I see it exactly the opposite; each album gets less and less interesting to me. Love the first one; really liked Fruit on the Bottom; Eroica, I was like, "hmm, well, okay. Sure." Girl Bros. just kinda droned on to me. Lyrics were passionate and moving, sure, but the music didn't do a whole lot. Maybe in time I'll give it another spin when I'm in a different headspace, and I'll love it. Stranger things have happened.

I am SOOOO jealous that you have the bonus Lisa disc; I'm sure it's beautiful. I adore her playing.

Eroica is my favorite album, and I LOVE the Waterfall video. When Wendy plays her guitar solo, I get chills because she is so beautiful and powerful. Sexy, in charge and takin' control! To me, it's the perfect representation of Beauty and Talent. I FUCKING LOVE WENDY!

Eroica is one of my all time favorites. Rainbow Lake is just perfection in my eyes. I love all of the instruments that song holds. One of the things I love about their music is the bottom background sounds that are being played. Everyone "hears" the top (chorus) parts of their music. But it's the "hidden" stuff (mainly done by Lisa) that people have to "listen" for that makes their music so beautiful. Listen for the background keyboard lines, the supporting drum beats instead of the main ones, the supporting guitar lines, and the percussion in their music. Absolutely Amazing!!!!

I just love Wendy and Lisa!!!!! In some respects more so than Prince. I am not smokin' anything you guys, but there music is the first music that I can actually see as it is playing. I know that sounds crazy but I can actually "see" their music, and it is very brightly colored. No artist has ever accomplished that with me. I am not a fruit cake but can anyone "feel" me on this?

I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

I feel ya. I can see how Prince loved working with them - the music they make reminds me of an even softer version of Joni Mitchell, whose music is very painterly and colorful as well.

Lisa may not be the BEST pianist in the world (who am I to judge), but I think she has a sound/technique that nobody else has. I really love Wendy as the personality of the duo, but I could listen to Lisa play piano forever....!

For me personally, I definately have to be in a certain mood to listen to Girl Bros. I hate to say it, but I only listen to it when I feel down. Because the music on that cd just speaks to my depression. But that doesn't necessarily mean its a depressing album....I mean, the girls were just getting some stuff off their chest after their brothers' death, and you can hear it on that CD. So it just makes sense to me. Like Skeleton Kee said it's "haunting". Esp. "bowl of cherries" ...LIsa's piano always puts me in this ethereal trance. its beautiful.
