Funny you should ask - a few weeks ago, I conducted my own "where is Mickie Free?" search. He has an official webesite - www.mickifree.com. Anyway, he's embraced his indian heritage and he's won a number of music awards for his albums. There are actually a few mp3s that you can download from the site. You can also order his cds up there, too. The cuts I heard are Hendrixy, with some cool ass guitar. He's still around and seemingly thriving.

Check this out - he and Howard Hewett are back together as "Shalamar" - there's a link to the website. They're available to play gigs.

I liked him enough but I never forgave him for blatantly ripping off Prince's look and Shalamar ripped off "1999" with "Dancing in the Sheets". Micki and Georgio had to be the most notorious 80s Prince clones.

It is amazing when you think of the numbers of acts that were copying Prince in the 80s.

okay..number one...I didn't know that he was Native American...number two, I "gasped" after seeing him after all this time...He and Giorgio were almost tied for the "trying to be Prince" contest of the 80's. On the website, it says that he "worked" with Prince...ummm when?!?!

I seriously thought he was a brotha...not with "some Indian" in him (good hair) Funny how time freakin flies!!!

I didn't know that Micki Free was involved with this reunion.Or,maybe he and Jeffrey take turns touring with Howard as "Shalamar"? In any case,it won't be a real reunion until Jody is involved.

Wow, I had no idea he was Native American/or even part Native American.

Anyway, one of my favorite songs during his era with Shalamar was Circumstansial Evidence. Lyrically, that song was just crazy. Also, I wonder what ever became of Delissa Davis and Sydney Justin, the other members along with Mikki at the time.

And further more, what is wrong with Jody. Doesn't she know that she should do a reunion with them if no other reason than I want her to do it. She should know by now that it's all about me.

I thought Mikki was dating that Marilyn Monroe look alike (I forget her name) I actually thought they were married?! I think that Mikki was trying SOOO Hard to be Prince back then. I remember reading something in Right On! Magazine back in the day that he was trying to get into a "full" club..and he blurted out "Ya'll wouldn't treat Prince this way?!" and the bouncers said something to the effect of "You ain't Prince!!"

Yes,Micki was dating Vanity for a short time in early 1984.This was when she was recording her Motown debut album 'Wild Animal'.Reportedly,Micki played guitar on this album (uncredited).I remember reading Black Beat magazine in these days,and there were even rumors that Vanity would join Shalamar (to replace Jody Watley,who had just left)!!
