There's nothing wrong with him. Prince isn't the only musician he plays with. Maceo is HUGE!

He's on tour.

His own website says his european tour dates are cancelled due to "ill health".

Maceo has his own band. If he don't tour they don't get paid which causes problems.

Maceo had to go through surgery and is fine now. Him and his family prefer to keep the reasons for his health problems private. It's true, his European tour has been cancelled because of this.
There was a plan that Maceo and his band would open up for the entire Musicology-Tour starting April 21st, but Prince called this off in the very last minute. The reasons for this -- I dont know.

Poor Maceo, I hope he get's back on tour, he was mad in Sydney, rock the joint with his solo.
