Prince nominated for "Greatest Opening Song Lines"

On BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine show listeners have been asked to vote on their
favourite opening lines in songs. Prince has been suggested by one of the listeners for the track Little Red Corvette "Guess I should have known by the way you parked your car sideways that it wouldn’t last."

The nomination can be seen at:

Love the line, love the song.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

What about:

"I was dreaming when I wrote this..." etc.

(I guess 1999 was the album for great opening lines!)
"We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

"That's becuase we're soulless auttomatons"

Rather than parallel park (I assume) she parked the car sideways to make it easier for her to leave. Didn't plan on haging around too long.

That is his best opening line, imo. Honorobale mention goes to "Dearly beloved, we are gathered her today..."

While we're in the mood 4 analysis, I think he's dwelling more on the fact that the chick was reckless. She parked it sideways, left it there in the street and didn't even worry about it, Its all in the attitude.

What Bout U?

That's been voted best opening line in a UK based list before, can't remember where or when but it was a while ago now.

"Every friday night I call your butt up on the phone
A deeper voice answers and says you're not at home
Now if u think that I'm a fool who'll go 4 any line
Then honey, put down all your money, u win every time"

Not a single line, but certainly one of my favs.
